Eligibility for Services

Disability Defined

To be eligible for services from CCBSS, an individual must have a developmental disability that:

  • Began before the age of twenty-two.
  • Is likely to continue indefinitely.
  • Results in problems with two or more of the following:
    1. living and working independently
    2. written or verbal communication
    3. self direction
    4. learning
    5. mobility
    6. self-care

Cooper County Residents who have developmental disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, epilepsy, congenital disabilities, severe learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities may be eligible for services.

Contact Misty Vizcarralagos, Intake Specialist, at (660) 882-5112 ext. 2. After a brief phone assessment, Misty will schedule a time to meet with you and your family and help you fill out the required paperwork. Once your eligibility has been determined, a case manager will be assigned to you. If you or your family member is not eligible, a referral will be made to a specialist who can help you with your needs.
