2024 Colorado State Fair Fiesta Queen Pageant
The Colorado State Fair – Fiesta Committee (CSF-FC) recognizes that there are many qualities and characteristics that encompass the title of Fiesta Pageant Queen.
The following Handbook serves as a guide to inform you of requirements for application, to prepare you for the Fiesta Pageant, and to advise you of your responsibilities should you be chosen as a member of the Fiesta Court.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must not be married (which includes common law), divorced, and/or have had an annulment
Applicants may not have or be expecting a child.
Applicants must be of Hispanic/Latina descent, between the ages of 18 and 22, having reached the age of 18 and not older than the age of 22 as of June 22, 2024
Applicants must be a United States citizen (or an eligible non-citizen) and a Colorado resident for at least six (6) months prior to application deadline
Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 upon applying
Applicants are required to submit a complete Fiesta Pageant application, a current and official high school or college transcript, a resume detailing your personal and professional attributes, and a minimum of two (2) signed letters of recommendation
Applicants must be enrolled/accepted to and attend an institution of higher learning for the 2024 - 2025 academic year and must be enrolled at a minimum of 12 credit hours at an accredited institution of higher learning

CONTESTANT REQUIREMENTS
** Mandatory rehearsals will be held on June 2, 2024, June 9, 2024, and June 16, 2024, so contestants can meet with the pageant chair and ask any questions they may have about the pageant. Interviews for the 2024 Fiesta Pageant will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 with the actual Fiesta Pageant being held on Saturday, June 22, 2024. There will be a MANDATORY full-dress rehearsal on Friday June 21, 2024. Further information along with dates, times, and locations will be forwarded to you in your acceptance letter and later communication with the Fiesta Committee Pageant Chair. **
After application deadline has passed, the CSF-FC will review all received applications to verify that all
qualifications have been met. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance to appear as a contestant in
the 2024 Fiesta Queen Pageant. Fiesta Queen Pageant contestants will be expected to:
Attend rehearsals, CSF Fiesta Queen Pageant, and any other Pageant-related activities. Uphold themselves in a positive, respectable manner throughout their time as a Fiesta Pageant contestant.
Sign a formal contract outlining responsibilities, rights, and privileges should the applicant be chosen as a member of the 2024 Fiesta Court.
Submit a photograph to be used for publicity of event and throughout pageant activities.

JUDGING
Judging will be done in five (5) categories as follows:
1) Personal Interviews: 30% of score Length: 15 minutes Based on:
i. Personality and Poise
ii. Ability to Communicate
iii. Self-assurance
iv. Attitude and Opinion
2) Speech: 30% of score Length: 2-4 minutes (Topics to be given to contestants at the initial
pageant meeting)
a. Based on:
i. Presentation and Projection
ii. Enunciation
iii. Clarity
iv. Relevance of topic
3) Talent: 20% of score Length: 3-5 minutes
a. Based on:
i. Distinctiveness
ii. Naturalness
iii. Presentation
iv. Quality
4) Evening Gown: 10% of score
a. Based on:
i. Overall Appearance
ii. Naturalness
iii. Vitality
iv. Poise and Attention
5) Impromptu Question: 10% of score Length: 30 sec to 1 minute
a. Based on:
i. Knowledge of topic
ii. Ability to formulate an answer quickly
iii. Enunciation
iv. Clarity of thought
** The top-scoring contestant will be crowned the Colorado State Fair Fiesta Queen. The next three highest scoring contestants will be designated the queen’s court. All four Fiesta Court members will receive a monetary scholarship as listed in their respective contracts. **
** If for some reason (marriage, moving, pregnancy, etc.) the candidates chosen, as queen and court are unable to fulfill their reign, the candidate must forfeit all awards and relinquish said title. **
AWARDS
The CSF-FC will award scholarships in the amount of $5,500 to the Fiesta Queen, $3,200 to the 1st Attendant, $2,800 to the 2nd Attendant, and $2,500 to the 3rd Attendant. The candidate chosen Miss Congeniality will be awarded a trophy and a $1,000 prize.
The awards will be payable to any Colorado institution of higher learning, upon proof of full-time enrollment. The recipients have two (2) years, starting from the fall semester of the pageant year, to request the start of their scholarship payments. The Fiesta Queen, 1st Attendant, 2nd Attendant, and 3rd Attendant scholarships will be dispersed in two (2) equal payments beginning with the fall semester of the year she requests payment.
At no time shall the Colorado State Fair or Colorado State Fair Management be contacted concerning the awards. The CSF-FC is solely responsible for maintaining contracts and securing payment to the Fiesta Court.
QUEEN/ATTENDANT RESPONSIBILITIES
During her reign, the Fiesta Queen and Court will make many appearances throughout Colorado, from the time of her crowning until the next year’s Fiesta Queen is chosen.
The Fiesta Queen and her court participate in the Colorado State Fair Parade.
The Queen and her Court will actively participate in the Fiesta Day Parade (Sunday September 1, 2024), long with any other Fiesta Day activities scheduled by the CSF-FC Committee.
The Queen and her Court participate in as many activities throughout Colorado as possible, such as the Noche de Fiesta, Silver Queen Contest, Parade of Lights, Veteran’s Day Parade, and others to be announced.

The Fiesta Queen Pageant Application can be submitted online. You must upload a resume and photograph with your application. Please print a copy the application form and waiver of liability page to keep for your records.
