Where Can I Get An Instrument?
Day Violins - Chantilly
Foxes Music Company - Falls Church
Brobst Violin Shop - Springfield
Potter Violins - Silver Spring, Maryland
Vacanti Violin Shop - Charlottesville
Oded Kishony - Charlottesville
Although renting is an option, I do recommend purchasing an instrument so that you can get trade-in value later for bigger sizes. Before buying an instrument, make sure you know your price range. All of these places can also help with maintenance and buying items like strings, rosin, books, cases, and even music stands.
DO NOT let your child play the instrument if they have never played before. This is very important so that I am able to introduce the instrument to them in a certain way. If they try to play their instrument on their own, they will be more reluctant to listen to my instruction.

Suzuki School Recordings - This includes both violin and viola books.
IMPORTANT: The Suzuki School Book 1 recording should be your first purchase as a beginner. Listening is the most important part of learning a new instrument. If you are not a beginner, wait to purchase any recordings until I consult with you.
Nurtured by Love by Shin'ichi Suzuki
IMPORTANT: This book is required for all parents. This book, written by Suzuki himself, describes the entire philosophy that I use to teach. It is vital for parents to understand the method so they have a full comprehension of the environment needed to foster musical ability.
