Provides emergency psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, brief outpatient counseling, case management and urgent medication management to individuals with Medi-Cal under age 18.

PERT-Psychiatric Emergency Response Team: If you know someone experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or your local law enforcement agency to access PERT services. o PERT provides support to law enforcement and the community for calls involving persons having a mental health crisis.


Rady Children’s Behavioral Health Urgent Care: (858)966-5485 4305 University Ave., Suite 150 San Diego, CA 92105 Walk-in Clinic open Monday through Friday 4:00pm-8:00pm or call to schedule appointment o Serves youth ages 5-17 years and their families struggling with urgent emotional and/or behavioral concerns. Provides risk assessment and crisis intervention, hospital transportation, case management, urgent medication management, and referrals for community resources. Accepts those with Medi-Cal, private insurance, and uninsured/undocumented individual.


Dial 2-1-1: 211 provides resources for crisis, food, housing, legal, emergency, health, veterans, jobs, re-entry, and human trafficking. Re-entry is assistance to those leaving a alcohol and drug treatment, mental health facility, and incarceration.

  • San Diego Youth Services : To get help or a referral for any of their services, call or text (619) 241-0608 Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. They offer a range of services from counseling regardless of insurance (CAT program), to transitional programs (TAY) which offer job training and trade-work. They also provide prevention/crisis support for schools and have a partnership with HTH charter schools.

  • South Bay Community Services: For those in the South Bay seeking community based counseling and referrals, please contact 619-420-3620.


  • Elizabeth Hospice HTH has a partnership with Elizabeth Hospice to provide individual grief counseling referrals as well as grief support group referrals. If you are interested in making a referral for grief support for your child, you may contact Misty Bonta at mbonta@hightechhigh.org and/or contact Elizabeth Hospice directly at 833-349-2054. Group referrals are free of charge, and individual grief support is based on an affordable sliding scale based on family income.



  • Healthy Early Years (HEY) Clinic via SDSU: Low-cost therapeutic services for young children and their families experiencing mild to moderate distress. Includes support for trauma, behavioral challenges, social skills, transitions, and school consultation. Provide individual, group, family, and couples support. Support children ages 0-10.


  • SAY San Diego Wellness Center : SAY San Diego provides quality, affordable mental health services to residents of San Diego County through private pay, sliding fee scale, and billing of private and government insurance. Services can be provided by Zoom during COVID-19 crisis and in-home, and community post pandemic. SAY provides individual and family sessions for both youth and adults.   • School Based and Community Counseling (Mental Health Systems) (858)278-3292 4660 Viewridge Ave., San Diego, CA 92123 -- Provides mental health services to youth, 5-18 years, in school, home, and community.   • Nueva Vista Family Services (Community Research Foundation): Nueva Vista Family Services (NVFS) is a community-based outpatient mental health program providing a full range of culturally and linguistically competent, strength-based, comprehensive integrated mental health services to children, youth and their families living in the South Bay area. Takes Medi-cal and uninsured/underinsured. Phone: (619) 585-7686


  • Center for Community Counseling: Call 619-594-4918. They offer counseling in English and Spanish primarily, as well as limited appointments in a variety of other languages. They also offer therapists from many different racial and ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ orientations, immigration status, and other important identities. Their fees are on a very affordable sliding scale based on household income and number of dependents for those in financial need. SDSU students receive a discounted rate. They also provide referral services and collaborate with other community mental health resources to help you get the support you need.


  • YMCA-Child and Teen Mental Health Services The YMCA's Youth and Family Services department offers many different types of counseling services in both English and Spanish, and we are now offering many of these services through teletherapy sessions online.   • The Center SD : The Center offers a wide selection of counseling services through its Behavioral Health Services Department. Services offered include individual, couple/family, and group counseling. Counseling services are available to the LGBTQ community including those struggling with same-gender/genderqueer relationship violence; transgender and nonbinary persons who need assistance with transition or exploring their gender identity; and for individuals, couples & families living with HIV/AIDS. Fees are charged on a sliding scale basis and some insurance plans are accepted. People living with HIV may potentially qualify to receive no-cost counseling services.   • Boys To Men Mentoring Program Parents and guardians interested in their young man attending these groups are encouraged to call their office (619-469-9599) to speak directly to a staff member to determine if the Open Community Group will be a good fit.



  • McAlister Institute: McAlister Institute offers 24 programs that represent a complete continuum of care for the prevention and treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction. At this time, most programs accept Medi-Cal and are also able to assist individuals who are Medi-Cal-eligible.       • RTC: McAlister Institute offers two gender-specific homes where substance abusing teens can seek up to 30 days of residential treatment. While in the program, adolescents participate in assessments, individual counseling, structured recovery activities, group education, and self-help groups.   • Kick Start: Kickstart is a diverse clinical team specially trained to educate the community, treat youth and assist families in preventing psychosis. We serve young people ages 10 to 25, their families, and their social networks to build support around the youth and promote success in relationships, education and employment.



  • Our Safe Place (LBGTQIA+, SDYS) : (619) 525-9903 3427 4th Ave. (2nd Floor), San Diego, CA 92103 Outpatient, community-based mental health services for youth ages of 12-21 years that identify as LGBTQ+ and their families. Provides individual and family therapy, case management and psychiatry. Serves all those living within San Diego County. Open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm.


  • Our Safe Place Drop-In Center-San Diego Youth Services: (619) 525-9903 2220 Broadway, San Diego, CA 92102 o Drop-In Center is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and offers services to youth that identity as LGBTQ+ between the ages of 12-21 years. Provides therapeutic and psychoeducation groups for youth and their families as well as rehab and support services and clinical case management.


  • STARS -Program SDYS : 619-521-2250 Provides services for youth ages 12-24 years involved with commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking. Offers support to empower the youth to escape sexual exploitation by developing inner strengths, building a sense of community and supporting their reintegration into mainstream society.

Services include: individual, family, group counseling, Medical evaluation and management, and Case management. Services are focused on the Asian, Pacific Islander, and Latino population, ages 5-20.
