Thank you for visiting my personal website. Here you can find examples of work I have produced in over 9 years of social science research and graduate teaching. My dissertation research concerned individual motivations for pursuing elected office, but I have worked on and managed projects on a wide range of topics, including youth employment, financial assets, senior care, school-based health centers, healthy eating/living, early language acquisition, and more.

My research has been published in multiple high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, and has been recognized with several awards. The Institute for Research on Women and Gender at the University of Michigan, for example, awarded me the 2017-2018 Boyd/Williams Dissertation Grant for Research on Women and Work. The Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan awarded me the Gerald R. Ford Fellowship for the 2017-2018 academic year.

I am well-versed in a variety of research methods. For example, my dissertation included qualitative interviews with 32 professionals, but also an original survey instrument and sample of 745 graduate students across the state of Michigan. Included in the survey instrument was a unique experiment testing messages encouraging individuals to run for office. My interviewing skills can be heard on my podcast, Social Work & Politics.

Intellectually rewarding, creative work is what I most enjoy. Research is like solving a puzzle that keeps revealing itself as you learn more. That's why I take so much pleasure constructing logic models and concept maps.

Other skills include Stata, Qualtrics, Atlas.ti, Microsoft Excel, Audacity, Qualitative Coding, Program Evaluation, Project Management, Mentoring, and more.
