Subject: Your article "Why I left Christianity"
Dear Mr Locks,
I was surfing this morning and happened upon your article. I'm not
going to say much except it is an exceptional document obviously written
by a thoughtful seeker of truth (or "whatever makes most sense") I too
share some of your doubts regarding Christianity, particularly regarding
hell and the after life. Of course, I'm not sure what lies beyond
death, but the thought of oblivion no longer frightens me as it did when
I was a teen (I'm 46). However, I call myself Christian. Christianity
remains for me a seaworthy vessel, regardless of the leaks and the
sometimes callous and hypocritical nature of my fellow shipmates. I am
sorry your words threaten so many Christians who ironically claim
superiority of mind and heart. Your article was fair and balanced. It
deserves to be read by Christians everywhere. Your words reveal a man
of reflection and faith. Thank you!

The same Abba Theophilus, the archbishop, came to Scetis one day.
The brethren who were assembled said to Abba Pambo,
'Say something to the Archbishop, so that he may be edified.'
The old man said to them, 'If he is not edified by my silence,
he will not be edified by my speech.

Dear Rob,
Thank you very much for your kind words. It means a lot to me to get positive
feedback from Christians, which although rare does happen - and yours was one
of the nicest. Such empathy for people who have gone down different paths is a
delight to see and shows that we can all live together with respect rather
than fear and constant bickering!
Would it be okay if I put your email in my feedback section?
Thank you again for writing!
Best regards,
Steve
