Welcome to my personal webpage!
During my career, I have worked from either side to connect research with practice and policy spheres in the pursuit of data-driven and impact-based solutions to global problems and in particular ambitions to end extreme poverty in all its forms.
I am currently working as a senior economist at the World Bank, Washington D.C. Based in the Development Economics group, my work is centered on the World Bank's role as a custodian of the global poverty and inequality figures. This includes research as well as dissemination of key trends related to the fight against extreme poverty.
Previously, I've worked more than a decade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in various positions related to the Danish engagement with African countries, including the prioritization, allocation and implementation of Danish ODA.
I hold a PhD in Economics from the Department of Business and Economics at the University of Southern Denmark. My thesis was titled The microeconomics of household behaviour in Sub-Saharan Africa: Experimental and quasi-experimental evidence. Part of the PhD was an impact assessment of village savings and loans associations (VSLAs) in northern Malawi which was published in The Journal of Development Economics.
