Meet Our Dogs

A bit more about some of our wonderful therapy dogs [these are not all our therapy dogs, just a few of our stars!]

JOVIE is a 3 year-old Golden Retriever.  She is a sweet and gentle soul who loves everyone (dogs and people) she meets.

She loves to chase and carry sticks and play with stuffy toys.  Her favorite game is tug of war, but fetch is not in her repertoire.  Her favorite snacks are whole carrots and ice cubes!  Lately, her favorite pastime is looking for bunnies and squirrels when she is out on walks.  She is an excellent hiker and goes on hikes with her human at least once a week.

JOVIE has done therapy work at a library children’s reading program, and visits residents at assisted living homes.                                                                                     07.16.2023

EMIE is a four-year-old St. Berdoodle who spreads joy wherever she goes. She loves people almost as much as she loves playing ball and will do just about anything for a pumpkin treat.

EMIE’s antics and affection bring a smile to just about anyone. Although EMIE is new to therapy work but she is not new to bringing happiness to those she meets.

BOOMER and his handlers Cheryl and Dale thank ITD, Inc. for bringing joy to so many venues throughout San Diego.

KADI is a beautiful red merle Australian Shepherd from the Arizona mountains.  She loves playing in the snow, going on long hikes & wading in creeks.  KADI is a mellow Aussie who is happy to see anyone & her Mamma knew that someday she would be a therapy dog.  At only 2.5 years old KADI passed her CGC & ITDI  Therapy Dog Evaluation with flying colors.  If you scratch her belly, hips or ears she will love you forever.

At 4 months KADI traveled to Houston, TX by car to care for a loved one.  The trip expedited her maturity & love for travel.

KADI's blue eyes are mesmerizing and her heart shaped nose emulates her love right away.  KADI looks forward to visiting assisted living centers in the Prescott, AZ area.

TALULAH is a long haired dachshund whom I rescued from the San Diego Humane Society the day before the “world stopped”. (March 14, 2019) She was 7 months old and was brought in to the shelter by her family 2 hours before I arrived. Lucky me!

TALULAH loves to go to Ocean Beach and walk along the edge of the channel. She likes to go into the water up to her underbelly to cool off.   She brings smiles to people we pass when we go out hiking.  They think - “if she can do it with her little legs, so can I”.  She’s inspiring!

STAR was bred by the owner’s 14yr old grandson who owns the golden retriever bitch.  After working with the eight puppies, he determined that STAR would be a perfect therapy dog.  She is a 1-year-old mini golden doodle, weighing about 20 pounds.

STAR loves meeting new people and dogs.  She enjoys riding in the car, saving the world from lizards, running around the park with her ‘new’ friends, playing at the beach, giving high-fives and having her tummy rubbed.

Although STAR is new to the ITD, Inc.  family, she has been accompanying the owner on visits with Alzheimer’s clients, adults with disabilities and elderly shut-ins.

STEWIE, rescued from a shelter in 2021, “Stew” is a Mini Poodle weighing about 16 pounds at 5 years old.

STEWIE loves all people, an endless happy ball of love, with his signature tail wag. Endlessly wagging in a circle so fast like a helicopter, we believe one day he will take flight!

Playing with cat toys on a string is his secret joy! As his first buddy was a cat. Jumping from chair to chair “catching some air”. He also fetches and retrieves toy squirrels and is very, very gently with them.

STEWIE does his therapy dog visiting at Meridian Senior Home, and is part of East Anaheim Library

read with dogs’ program that inspires elementary children with reading.

MEEKO is a Pomeranian Chihuahua mix, approximately 6 years old.  Four years ago he was found wandering around the streets of San Jose.  He was taken to the San Jose shelter where we saw him staring at us quietly with his big brown eyes.  At that moment we knew he was meant for us.  MEEKO was originally supposed to be an emotional support animal, however, within weeks after he was adopted he became very sick.

Through 2 years of ups and downs, tests and hospitalizations, MEEKO was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and later with Alopecia.  Thankfully his medications and special diet are working well and he has had no symptoms for the last 2 years.  It was during this time that I felt Meeko had so much love to give.  MEEKO loves to lick and loves to be pet.  He loves walks and LOVES to eat.  Two of his favorite snacks are apples and sweet peppers.  When he's hungry he will stare and lick you all over.  He likes to sleep on his back and his favorite place is his massage chair.

ROXY  is a soft, fluffy, red American cocker spaniel, who loves babies and children!  ROXY  is interested in meeting everything and everyone.  She is kind, gentle and polite to all people.

ROXY  loves learning new tricks and only works for treats!  She helps her mom by demonstrating the tricks while teaching children in online. Her favorite treats are anything!

She also loves her two dog brothers, Jordan a 14 year old cocker spaniel and king Charles cavalier mix, and Putter, a pure bread cocker spaniel.  She loves playing fetch with Putter, except when he takes the ball and won’t give it back.                                                                                                                                           2.25.2020

MILO is a fluffy, mini bernedoodle with a heart of gold. Milo has a special ability to warm up everyone he meets. He is kind, gentle and loving.

Milo loves learning new tricks and having playdates with his best friend Mocha. He enjoys going to Tahoe with the family - cooling his belly on the snow and taking in the crisp mountain air.

In his downtime, Milo loves sleeping in the sun, eating veggies, taking long walks in the park and meeting new people. If you give him a belly rub he will be forever indebted.

JAMESON (lil whiskey boy) is a 3 year old golden retriever from Orange County.  His favorite things to do are playing with other pups, walking anywhere with an ocean view, catching tennis balls, kayaking and getting his photo taken.  Yes, he is quite the little model and not shy of the camera.

He loves to cuddle and provide lots of puppy kisses to anyone and everyone.  He is the biggest lap dog and still loves to be carried by his mama.

CLOONEY, as in George Clooney [but we call her Rosemary Clooney since she is a female, a red, golden retriever, is a natural retriever, excels at retrieving most anything that is thrown for her.

Her favorite activity is swimming and diving.  Just recently she has taken up kayaking on San Diego Bay, too. Her friendly personality has made her many friends and increases her popularity on her walks particularly when she retrieves "surprises" and when relaxing, she prefers sitting on your lap.  CLOONEY  has a mellow and friendly temperament and pleasing personality will make her a perfect therapy dog.

JOSEY  a rough-coat Jack Russell terrier/Corgi mix,  was rescued from an animal shelter in early 2012. She was two years old and weighed in at about 22 pounds. She started training to be a therapy dog because she has a natural love for people of all ages.  She recently spent a week at Royal Family Kids Camp with 45 children of abuse and neglect.  She sat next to kids during their activities and loved all the attention and hugs the kids had for 'their' dog.  She also loves hanging out with the older 'kids' at the retirement home.

At home balls are JOSEY's main focus. She brings her purple one to be thrown out to the patio & into jacuzzi again & again. A full-sized basketball is her soccer ball at the park to push, chase & throw into the air. The same goes for her frisbee at Huntington Dog Beach, when she runs into the surf or down the beach to catch it in the air. JOSEY plans to visit Huntington Beach schools as a "Ruff' Reader to teach kids how to read & how to be respectful to dogs too.
