November 2012

This is our big annual show in Berkeley, very highly recommended. Hope you can make it.

Hardly Strictly Klezmer Chanukah Kickoff

<

Thursday November 29th, 8pm

This year's “Hardly Strictly Klezmer Chanukah Kickoff" is -- you guessed it -- right before Chanukah. Three bands will take the stage at the world-class Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse (2020 Addison St. near Shattuck, Berkeley): Charming Hostess, at the intersection of voice, text and diaspora consciousness; Kugelplex, shtetl-rockin' klezmer and old-world soul music; and the Red Hot Chachkas, new American klezmer from Old World roots. Special event produced by the Red Hot Chachkas in association with the JCC of the East Bay's 28th Jewish Music Festival, and KlezCalifornia. Or watch live online stream at ConcertWindow ($3)

June 2012

The Red Hot Chachkas have a couple of performances coming up in the East Bay: a dance-party on Friday night, June 8, and an afternoon outdoor concert on Saturday June 9, both in great venues. These will be our first shows welcoming our extraordinary new drummer, Aharon Wheels Bolsta. We're sorry to see Michael move on, but also excited to have Aharon join. We're getting a whole new feeling for how a drummer can shape a band. It should be interesting how our sound, so come hear for yourself!
