Syllabus

8th Grade Science Syllabus

Hello! I am super excited to have you in class this year. Your time in my class will be challenging but rewarding. For the most part, I try and keep true to the Montessori Method of education. To me this means long periods of work time, freedom of choice in how you present your work, a lot of time working with your hands, as much time as possible outside, and minimal lecturing. I also rely heavily on NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) which encourages students to view the world through an engineering perspective.

You will cover a variety of topics this year and they can be broken down into 4 main categories:

Unit 1: Biodiversity and human impact

Unit 2: Climate change

Unit 3: Natural disasters

Unit 4: Heredity and adaptation
