Deadline

Artists are invited to submit storm drain designs by Wednesday, May 22 at 11:59 PM. The Village of Bronxville will publicly announce the winner on Friday, May 31 (however, the winner will be notified prior to this date). The winning artist will paint their design on Saturday, June 1 during the Bronxville Village Sidewalk Sale.

Designs Must Adhere to the Following Criteria:

  • Use template to propose design.
  • The sidewalk square measures to 60" x 56". Please use the template as a guide.
  • Designs must be painted on the area surrounding the drain and must run to or incorporate the drain.
  • Designs may not contain any business promotions or advertisements.
  • Designs may not include any breach of intellectual property, brands or trademarks or depictions of illegal activity.
  • Designs must be public friendly.
  • If the final design differs greatly from the proposed design, the Village of Bronxville reserves the right to remove the artwork.

When Designing Your Artwork, Follow the Theme:

  • This year’s theme “Don’t litter, drains to Bronx River.” promotes the goal of the Village of Bronxville to reduce pollutant discharges into the Bronx River, starting with wastewater and storm water.
  • Your design should include this year's slogan, “Don’t litter, drains to Bronx River.” and provides visuals in order to call attention to the problem.


COPYRIGHT

Each artist further grants the Village of Bronxville the following exclusive rights:

(a) Reproduction (including electronic images) for fundraising, educational and promotional purposes.

(b) The right to remove the artwork from the site for the following reasons:

  • Endangerment of public safety
  • Damage to the drain (including vandalism) requiring repair or maintenance
  • Significant adverse public reaction
  • Replacement or maintenance of the drain

PROJECT COMPLETION

If selected:

  • Artists will be notified by May 15 if they have been selected as a winner.
  • Non-slip paint will be provided, as well as basic brushes and tubs.
  • Artists may want to bring their own unique tools and brushes, but should do so at their own expense.
  • Painting is scheduled for the month of June.
