Litter in Bronxville

While the Village of Bronxville may appear clean to the naked eye, you might be surprised to know that students from Bronxville High School have collected pounds of litter off the streets. According to student research, the top source of litter in Bronxville is cigarettes. We obtained the following data from Parkway Road and Palmer Ave:

Top 5 Sources of Litter at Parkway Avenue:

  1. Tobacco products (171)
  2. Gum, snack, and candy wrappers (19)
  3. Fragments of glass (14)
  4. Gum (12)
  5. Food wrappers and containers (10)

Top 5 Sources of Litter at Palmer Avenue:

  1. Tobacco products (99)
  2. Gum, snack, and candy wrappers (26)
  3. Fragments of glass (16)
  4. Food wrappers and containers(13)
  5. Product tags and labels (12)

It is likely that the litter found on the streets is being transmitted into storm drains by natural causes: wind, rain, and other natural means. Consequently having storm drains transmitting litter into the river.
