Middle School Information
Message from Ms. Burston:
This year, our Joyner 5th graders are slated to attend many different WCPSS middle schools! Please take a moment to read over our middle school registration info:
We will register for 6th grade electives here at school during the week of March 18th. Here's a list of middle school elective forms and virtual open house info. Each middle school offers different elective choices. This list will be updated as we receive open house info.
Your child's 5th grade teacher will make a recommendation for 6th grade math. The options are Math 6 and Math 6 Plus.
If you are not attending a WCPSS school or moving out of the district, please let Ms. Burston know.
You will receive an email from Ms. Mozingo, our data manager, on parent portal access (where you'll have access to grades, schedules, and registration). Please contact her at kmozingo@wcpss.net for questions.
Tentative timeline for rising 6th grade registration process:
Thursday 2/23: Magnet Notification
*please note Joyner has no control over middle school placements, please contact WCPSS student assignment for concerns/questions.
Friday 3/08: Elective info sent home to choose course selections (we'll make the actual selections at school the following week)
Tuesday 3/19 - Thursday 3/21: Online elective registration will take place during technology class. Wilcox 3/19, Schneider 3/20, Cameron 3/21
Friday 4/5: Course Verification Forms sent home for parents/guardians to view; you do not have to send them back.
Please let Ms. Burston or Mr. Phillips know if you have questions, they are more than happy to help. They will try their best to answer questions about middle school, but specific course and school questions will be great things to ask when you visit your middle school's open house.
