I am independent of any party so I can represent you and not some party agenda.
I am only interested in solving problems rather than fixating on some fixed agenda or ideology.
I first seek to understand an issue before making a decision.
I will represent and defend my constituents interests above all.
I run a zero dollar campaign because I don't want to be beholden to any one group of supporters.
You can expect reasoned and rational representation from me.
Well, the party system has created this impression hasn't it. The trick is to select representatives that will actively represent you. If you think a party's agenda is perfect and has no deficiencies, vote for your favorite party. Otherwise select a person to represent your interests. I will support good policies, programs and agendas from any of my colleagues. If legislation is not good for you and Canada in the long run, I will fight it.
No, we can't form the "government". But we independents can be very effective at keeping political interests at bay and limiting abuses.
I hope you will support me to change the petty politics of Parliament back to its original intention of being purpose of being an institution that ensured a responsible government for the people of Canada.
Q: Why such a long ballot?
A: To bring public attention to the issue of election reform. A promise made to voters in the past during campaigning by the Liberals in 2015 and the Conservatives prior to that. Once elected and in power, reforming the electoral system was promptly forgotten.
For my part, I think that if voters changed their attitudes about who they elect and why the system would function more effectively as it is. My advise to voters is, vote for your representative not their leader, if they have one. If you are voting for the party leader, you are breaking the system of representative government.
Better still, fill the House of Commons with independants. Then only good policies will pass. The government will be formed by a coalition of people that will need to cooperate and act in the best interests of the majority.
Will government slow down? YES! That is a good thing. The best governments in history are the ones that no one talks about because they where boring, changed little, and where stable. Wild, swings in government policy are disruptive and stabilizing. We only need to look at the present American administration for confirmation that this is true.
What about in times of crisis? During a crisis all self serving interests align, even globally. Parliamentary governments function just fine, if not better in a time of crisis. The two major parties like to promote this commonly believed fallacy, but it is demonstrably not true. The bonus we get as a society, it removes the political power of party politics to create crisis to justify the need for majority governments.
