I use the Barton Reading and Spelling System in all tutoring sessions. For students who need extra help with phonemic awareness, I use Foundation in Sounds.
The Barton Reading and Spelling System is a systematic, multi-sensory program based on the Orton-Gillingham system of phonics instruction. Foundation in Sounds is designed to complement Barton.

What does tutoring cost?
I charge $40 per session, which are scheduled for one hour. To make progress in the Barton program, 2 sessions per week are required.
I provide tutoring in-person at my home in southwest Bakersfield, California.

My story:
I have been a home educating parent since 2000. After three phonics programs and three years of tried-and-true approaches to reading, my sixth child was still struggling to read, much less write. A reading specialist friend led us into the wild and wonderful world of dyslexia and turned us on to Barton Reading and Spelling. Our home school experience and his life changed! He is now a college prep high school graduate who reads for pleasure and is a great writer. Word got out and other families asked me to work with their students using the Barton Program. I am happy to walk with families as their students build success and confidence in their literacy skills. Your student's mind is a powerful creation, and your student CAN SUCCEED!
