Crew Member
Job Description

The job of Crew Member is a temporary position. Crew members are required to perform repetitive, strenuous labor including, but not limited to clearing vegetation, debris, and litter while using hand tools such as hoes, shovels, pruners, shears, litter pickers, etc. The labor includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Ongoing walking, standing, repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting

  • Repetitive lifting, including occasional lifting of 50 pounds or more

  • Reaching out with hands and arms above waist level

  • Repetitive reaching above shoulders

  • Repetitive pushing, pulling, carrying and dragging of vegetation, debris, litter, dirt, rocks, timber and other materials over distances greater than ten feet

Additionally, Crew Members are required to work outdoors on all types of terrain and in all types of weather conditions throughout the year. Crew Members may be exposed to:

  • Light to heavy rain, wind, and fog

  • Smog

  • Dust, pollens, molds, and other allergens

  • Extreme temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 105 degrees F

  • Standing and/or flowing water of varying depths

  • Steep slopes, uneven surfaces, thick vegetation

  • Poison oak/ivy, bees, spiders, wasps, snakes, and other wildlife

  • Power equipment creating noise in excess of 100 decibels

  • Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight

Crew Members are required to work while wearing the following personal protective equipment (PPE):

  • Long pants (preferably denim)

  • Work boots

  • Hardhat

  • Safety vest

  • Gloves

  • Safety glasses/goggles

  • Other safety equipment as directed

Minimum Qualifications for Crew Member:

  • Have prior Military Service

  • Have not worked for the Back 2 Work in the past

  • Be able to perform all duties listed above

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen
