TO BE

TO BE este cel mai puternic verb din limba engleză pentru că el ne ajută să facem toate timpurile continue și toată diateza pasivă. De aceea își permite să aibă și cele mai multe ,,fițe”. De exemplu, este singurul verb care la prezent are TREI forme (AM, ARE și IS).

FORMA AFIRMATIVĂ

eu sunt - I am (formă unică)/ I'm

tu ești - you are /you're

el este - he is /he's

ea este - she is /she's

el/ea este - it is /it's

noi suntem - we are / we're

voi sunteți - you are /you're

ei sunt - they are / they're

FORMA NEGATIVĂ - mai apare NOT

I am not/ I'm not – eu nu sunt

you are not/you're not/you aren't – tu nu ești

he is not/he's not/ he isn't – el nu este

she is not/she's not/ she isn't – ea nu este

we are not/ we're not/we aren't

FORMA INTEROGATIVĂ

!!! aici va trebui să facem inversiunea subiectului cu ceea ce este după el (am, are, is):

Am/Are/Is + Subiect ?
