Links

Some of my favourite websites and links for supporting student learning.

  • Reflex math - students will be using reflex math to support their learning of basic math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). This can be accessed by browser or app. Students have log in codes in their agendas.

  • Kids A to Z - Online reading program in English and French. I tailor the levels to a range based on your child's reading abilities. Students have log in codes in their agenda.

  • Word reference - word reference is essentially an online dictionary with a variety of language translations. It does not translate text directly but provides you with a multitude of translations for an individual word. I strongly advise against students using google translate for writing as it does not always reflect the appropriate tense, sentence structure or vocabulary in French. Word reference also has verb conjugation tables (similar to a bescherelle).

        • If you prefer paper copies of dictionaries or verb conjugation to support your child's learning, these are my suggestions:

              • Dictionary: most french-english dictionaries work so this is just an example.

              • Bescherelle: a word conjugation book - extremely helpful as students grow in their writing abilities.

  • French language, culture and music: my favourite websites come from Radio-Canada (CBC). There are many music streams that play music for 8-12 year olds in French, French radio and French television. Here are a couple links for these websites.

These are suggestions from our resource teaching team. They are great suggestions for all learners to use!
