Korean 1A

This course is designed to be an introductory course for Korean beginners with little to no experience. Students will be able to speak, read, write, and understand Korean language and culture at their course level. After the completion of Korean 1, students will be able to comprehend basic spoken instructions, questions, requests, and short dialogues, using familiar vocabulary and basic structure.



Korean 2A

This course will provide further practice in conversation, reading, and writing. Students will continue to learn the basic elements of Korean grammar and expand their communicative abilities to understand and produce a more complex level of oral and written language. Students will be able to speak, read, write, and understand Korean language and culture at their course level.



Korean 3 H

This course will provide advanced, broader practice in conversation, reading and writing. Students will use digital tools while engaging critical thinking. Each unit includes conversation, reading, grammar, structure and integration of vocabulary study, pronunciation and listening practice through experiential learning. Culture is emphasized in reading passages, photos, learning songs, and through hands-on experiences inside and outside of the classroom.

Korean 4H


  • This course is designed to develop intermediate communication skills for Korean advanced level. Korean will be used exclusively during the class instruction. Students will develop advanced proficiency in the four modalities of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In highly structured and contextualized situations, students will learn to elaborate on a more personal level in Korean. This course will also offer to prepare the NEWL-K (National Examination in World Language Korean) or TOPIK (Test Of Proficiency In Korean). Success in those exams also satisfies the Korean language proficiency requirement for bilingual Korean-US government positions and private sector jobs. At the end of this course, students will be able to engage in and understand conversations, lectures, oral presentations in Korean.

  • Students who finish K4H will receive The Seal of Biliteracy. Some colleges consider the Seal of Biliteracy to fulfill their language course requirements.
