Biography

Meet George Gluck

George Gluck was born on January 6, 1947 in Czechoslovakia and was brought to the United States at the age of 16 months. He attended public school in Brooklyn, New York and later obtained his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science from Brooklyn College, New York, with a major in Math and a minor in Physics in 1967. He has a Master’s degree in Science from Johns Hopkins University in Applied Mathematics in 1969, and a second Master’s degree in Administrative Science Computer Management from George Washington University in 1981. 

George’s professional career has been as a mathematician and software engineer, with more than 45 years of public and private sector experience, principally in supervisory capacities. He is a specialist in the research and development of novel applications of computer technology as a management tool for solving problems, including staffing resources, operations, diagnostics and tactical requirements. He has been employed in his current position as a senior software consultant by LMI, McLean, Virginia since 2001. His recent projects include strategic studies and technical reviews to help modernize large government computer systems, such as the redesign of the Medicare Financial System (HIGLAS), an Enterprise Architecture for the Public Building Service of the General Services Administration (GSA), Dispatch Systems for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), and a major financial system for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). George has served as a substitute teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools for seventh grade advanced math classes, with a teaching certificate in advanced mathematics. He also substitute teaches at public high schools in Frederick County. 

An active member of Kol Shalom Congregation in Rockville, George has served two years as Social Action Chair, with a focus on environmental issues. He is a member of True Vote Maryland, a grassroots citizens organization advocating for voter verified paper ballots for Maryland voting systems. He has also served as an election judge, and even as a chief election judge, in Montgomery County elections. He is a committed Red Cross blood donor since 1968. He is a member of the oldest and largest association of computer professionals, the Association for Computer Machinery, and is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society. 

George is married with two children and five grandchildren. He and his wife of 40 years, a retired Montgomery County schoolteacher, live in Rockville.  George actively supports solar power by incorpating solar energy into the powering his house for electrical and water needs. He and his wife both drive hybrids. He supports a vegetarian, organic lifestyle for ecological and health reasons. He is an experienced yoga teacher and practitioner, and keeps up an active dedication to staying fit with biking and swimming. He plays violin in informal groups.
