1st Edition of the Artificial Intelligence Campus Week

April 23, 2021

AEDIMARK R&D Group have developed the 1st Edition of the Artificial Intelligence Campus Week from April 19 to 23, an innovative activity that have brought students closer to artificial intelligence, helping them to make decisions in uncertain situations. 70 students of the degrees in Economics and Business Administration and Management at the University of Extremadura have participated it. This activity is aimed at encouraging students to develop skills such as problem-solving, or adapting to changing environments like the current one and, in this way, help meet the demands of the digital society of the 21st century and its demanding labor market, according to the organizers.

During Artificial Intelligence Campus Week, #AICAMPUSWEEK, participants have learned how to use artificial intelligence devices in an environment of uncertainty. Students have interacted with this technology through a game involving decision-making in uncertain contexts.

The experience was divided into three days. In the first one, the participants were introduced to the device they were going to use: the Echo Dot 3, a smart speaker with Alexa that is voice-controlled. They were also shown how to set it up and link it to their cell phones. On the second day, students interacted in pairs with the artificial intelligence devices through a business management game that requires decision-making. Finally, on the third day they competed to obtain the highest score in the game available on the Echo Dot 3.

Artificial Intelligence Campus Week, #AICAMPUSWEEK, has received great feedback from students. "It's a fun way to learn, even with a game. Sometimes the smallest thing helps you learn much more than if you spend a lot of time studying," said Isabel Núñez Pérez, student of the Degree in Business Administration and Management. "I thought it was a good experience because it is teaching us what a real business is like, how they work and how we should manage them according to our environment. I found it very fun," said her classmate Marta López Morales.
