Using the disc in different ways

*These activities could be used with very young children, or to explore different ways of moving and using equipment. Variations could also be used with SEND students who may struggle with throwing and catching activities
  • Balance games - balance the disc and move with it, or pass it to a partner. Try balancing the disc upside down with tennis balls / beanbags ..etc in inside.

  • Water balance - turned upside down an Ultrastar Ultimate disc can hold over a litre of water. Children can play a water transfer race.

  • Rolling / sliding the disc - try passing games where the disc is transferred between players across the floor (works best in a sports hall). Children can sit down and slide the disc to each other playing name or number games.

  • Craters and volcanoes - one team tries to turn all the discs face up, other team tries to discs face down. *set up activity safely especially if in a sports hall as discs on the floor are very slippy.

  • Knee / toe bounces - like with a ball can you use your knees or feet to bounce the disc and then catch it.
