Volunteering Opportunities

West Kirby Museum

West Kirby Museum is a small Museum attached to St Bridget’s Centre, West Kirby, CH48 3JT.  It was founded in 1892 to commemorate a local worthy, Charles Dawson Brown, principally to house an important collection of sculptured stones, some dating back to the Viking period.  Enlarged and refurbished, it reopened in 2013

Since then it has opened to the public once a week, staffed by a small team of volunteers who give their time and energy for free. We are currently looking for new people interested in joining our rota. Volunteers come in on Saturday mornings, once every 8 weeks, or so, from 10am to 1pm to welcome visitors. New recruits would not be left on their own but would be partnered with an experienced volunteer.  We provide free tea, or coffee, and biscuits and it is a great way to share your enthusiasm for local history and meet visitors who come to see what we have on show – both our permanent exhibition and our ever changing temporary displays.

If you think that this would be something that you could do (say, once every two months), please contact the person who organises the rota at crossange@aol.com, to find out more.
