Band programs at Trinity

Fine Arts Programs at Trinity Christian Academy

Trinity Christian Academy Fine Arts Department

Trinity Christian believes that education in the arts is important for a child’s overall education and service to the Lord. A full range of choir and band classes are offered at the elementary, junior high, and high school level. Students may also elect speech, theater, and art classes.

Speech, Private Lessons

Students in high school and junior high may take drama classes. Speech is offered as an elective in the high school. Students in speech and drama give skits in chapel and compete at the annually FACCS competition. Private lessons are offered on piano during the day (schedule permitting) and after school by well-qualified teachers for an additional charge.

Band

The Academy offers band classes at every level of ability. Students may start band as early as the 5th grade and then progress on to intermediate band, concert band, and symphonic band.

The Conquerors Marching Band is composed of members of the Symphonic and Concert Band and rehearses in the summer and after school during the fall. The Conquerors Marching Band regularly competes in both the Florida Marching Band Coalition (FMBC) competitions and Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) Music Performance Assessments. They have received numerous awards at local competitions and placed as high as 2nd in the state marching tournament. Performing with the marching band is a color guard which performs and highlights the music through flags, rifles, and choreography.

The Trinity Symphonic Band has consistently received superior or excellent ratings at the FBA concert festivals and over the last 25 years and has placed no lower than 2nd in the FACCS fine arts competition. They have gone on to place in the top three at the AACS National Competition on many occasions. Students also have the opportunity to participate in solo and ensemble events and various all-state and all-district honor bands. Each year the band goes on a spring trip and has given concerts in such venues as the Navy Pier and Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, the Capital Steps and Old Post Office Pavilion in Washington, the Lincoln Center courtyard and Statue of Liberty in New York City, the Myerson Center in Dallas, TX, and the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville.

Vocal Program

Students in grades 5-6 may participate in the elementary chous and then participate in the junior high choir in 7th and 8th grade. The elementary chorus performs in chapel, gives concerts, and participates in junior FACCS. The junior high choir performs in chapel, evening concerts and junior FACCS. The high school choir, Voices in Praise, performs concerts and participates in the FACCS state competition. They have been state winners at the FACCS state competition several times. The high school choir often travels and have given concerts in the White House in Washington, the Biltmore House in Asheville, N.C. and the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
