Hi Folks,

It is with great sadness that I must report that Rosemont Commissioner Joe Wiles has passed away…

Joe was a Rosemont Commissioner for 20 years and will be sorely missed.  Please keep Joe's family in your prayers.  The following is an excerpt from the Frederick News Post (07/29/17).  Click here for the full article.

“Joseph William Wiles, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Kline Hospice House after a year long battle with cancer…Joe lived a life of giving and sharing. He willingly sacrificed his time, effort, and talent to benefit others, both family and community. Outwardly he was such a quiet, sweet and serious guy, but he was also fun to be with and he had a dry sense of humor. His favorite saying was always "Have a nice day".  He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1965 and went to work for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD as a Grant Research Clerk, retiring after 30 years. He took his job very seriously, but many times for fun he would ride his motorcycle down 270 to NIH in Bethesda. After retiring, he bought a black and gold scooter and matching helmet and locally became known as "The Bumble Bee". After retiring he worked part time for the Brunswick Crown Service Station for almost 15 years…Joe was an active member of the Brunswick Moose Lodge #1582/Family Center, holding various offices over the years, including that of Governor several times. A dedicated supporter of Mooseheart, he also attended many District meetings. He was extremely proud to have achieved the Moose's highest honor of the Pilgrim Degree.  Joe always loved and respected our Veterans. He was a member of the Brunswick American Legion Post #96.  Joe was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1136 in Brunswick, having many long time friends in that organization.  Some of Joe's favorite things were his trips to Ocean City with Patti and Frank Zintek and driving Walter and Jean Baker to and from their Florida home via RV. He also enjoyed Elmer and Mildred Van Fleet at the Creekside Inn and Steiner's Hill. He lived in the upstairs apartment for a number of years. He had a great time on that snow covered hill, not on a sled, but in a canoe!  Joe enjoyed life and friends and family. He contributed much and will forever be loved and remembered by many.”

  • Message from the Burgess (Summer 2017) I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy summer. At the last meeting, the budget for next year was approved.  The only change from last year was to add more speed enforcement hours.  Last year we had 50 4-hour patrols for speed enforcement, next year we will have 75 4-hour patrols.  I have also asked the Sheriff’s Department to enforce the "No Trucks" on Petersville Road.  The State Highway Department did a survey of speed on Petersville Road, and it showed that most of the speeding was taking place between noon and 4 PM.  They are going to add some more patrols during that time period.Unless some unexpected agenda items come up, the July meeting ...

  • Archived Newsflash (11/21/16) INCOMING FUNDS (Nov 21):  You may have seen in the Frederick News Post that Frederick County owes the State of Maryland money from a mistake in the distribution of income taxes. Well, the good news is Maryland owes Rosemont $10,000.  We got a call from the Comptroller’s office saying the money is on the way.

  • MESSAGE FROM THE BURGESS (Winter 2016) Hi Folks,I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy holiday. At the November meeting our auditor presented the audit for last year.  Good news, we had a budget surplus of $18,000 and on top of that, we are getting $10,000 from the State.  Somehow the State miscalculated the amount of income tax we were to receive. We plan to put this money into savings to replace the money we spent on the water lines. You may have noticed that Brunswick Crossing is building on the south side of Rt. 17.  None of these buildings will be in the section of land that is in Rosemont.  The plan calls for a parking lot and open space ...
