NEXT SCHEDULED VILLAGE MEETING: MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2026, 7PM, MERRYLAND PARK
MESSAGE FROM THE BURGESS (04/03/2026)
The 2026 Spring Village Bulk Trash Pickup will be April 13-15. Your trash may be someone else’s treasure, so we encourage you to set items out early (the weekend before). This will allow “pickers” a chance to keep as much as possible out of the landfill (and save the Village some $$$ in dumping fees). Mattresses and other large items that don’t fit in your regular trash are welcome. NO hazardous waste, NO batteries, NO electronics, NO large appliances, and NO tires. Also, NO yard waste or regular residential trash. Questions? Contact Commissioner Sean Byrons (smb1173@gmail.com).
Frederick County accepts electronics for recycling at their 9031 Reichs Ford Road facility in Frederick. These transactions incur a fee of only $.82 per 20 pounds of materials recycled, but there is a $10 minimum. Go to the scale house/weigh station (main entrance) when you arrive, and they will direct your further. Electronics are not taken to the recycling drop-off center.
Our next Village Meeting will be Monday, June 1, when the Commissioners will be voting on a budget for FY2027.

Announcements:
In local news, the Brunswick Lions Club has recruited new members and is NOT dissolving. Lions Merryland, Inc. will retain ownership of the building and adjacent land in Merryland Park so the question of whether Rosemont is willing to assume ownership is now moot.
FredCo applications for burn permits can now be completed completely online at Health.FrederickCountyMD.gov/BurnPermit. For more information about open burning in the County, click HERE.
We have new, heavier duty “Please Slow Down” signs for folks to put in their yards by the road. Contact Commissioner Scarff if you would like one (they are free to Rosemont residents). Robin can be reached at 240-344-8877 or roborsonny@yahoo.com
Notary Services: Basic Notary services are now available free of charge to Rosemont residents. To make an appointment, contact Village Clerk Beth Coyne at rosemont.clerk@gmail.com.
Rosemont Bear Sightings: If you see a bear in Rosemont (or evidence that a bear has been through your property), please complete and submit the following form: Rosemont Bear Sightings. We’ll collect information and post updates here. There were four reported sightings in 2024: New York Avenue in mid August, the Roelkey Farm mid-September, and Rosemont Drive in late October. To report bear-related emergencies, call 1-410-260-8888. For more information on peacefully co-existing with black bears, see Living with Black Bears from the Maryland DNR. 🐻
Concerns about Homeowner’s Insurance? The People's Insurance Counsel Division (PICD) of the Office of the Attorney General represents the interests of Maryland Homeowners. While the Division cannot provide legal representation for individual consumers, PICD protects insurance consumers in a number of ways, including the discussing insurance problems with consumers to answer questions and explain the process available in Maryland for review of complaints. If you have a problem with your insurance company or agent, you can file a complaint with the Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA), and an investigator will determine whether your insurance company violated Maryland's insurance laws. For more information, click HERE.
Recycling & yard waste materials may be dropped off at Brunswick Public Works (600 Petersville Road) any Monday-Friday from 8am-3pm.
Acceptable materials include: Recycling – paper, glass, plastic, cardboard, metal; Yard Waste – leaves, grass clippings, plants, shrubs, trimmings no larger than 8’ long and 6” diameter. Proof of Rosemont residency may be required.
Frederick County has a Septic Pump-Out Rebate Program. Rebates ($75) are available in the next fiscal year for homeowners who have their septic systems pumped-out by a licensed pumping company that sends its waste to the Frederick County Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Residents are encouraged to apply for the rebate on a first come first served basis due to funding availability. Click HERE for instructions on how to apply.
