Presidential Volunteer Service Award
Richardson Bay Service Unit has become a certifying organization for the President's Volunteer Service Awards to support all our members who would like this recognition for the impact they make in our community. Awards are a pin, certificate, and congratulatory letter from the President. This honor is available to individuals and groups, girls and adults with hours differing by age bracket.

Volunteer Eligibility
United States citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States
Must be at least five years old
Completes eligible service within a 12-month period
Registered girl or adult member of the Richardson Bay Service Unit
The volunteering window is a rolling 12-month window (and you can pick the window).
Eligible Service
Unpaid acts of volunteer service benefiting with some exclusions (full details). You can log hours spent selling Girl Scout cookies and volunteering for Girl Scouts. Service for other organizations can be logged with us -- see the form and a link to the record of hours in the form.
Ineligible Service
Donating funds
Political lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
Religious instruction
Conducting worship service
Proselytizing
Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
Serving only family members

For service outside of Richardson Bay troops and service unit, include the tracking & sign off from the volunteering coordinator as a file upload in the form. Logging should be done by the adult supervising the volunteering or the troop leader if it's a troop activity. You can track in your own sheet and add an entry with a file upload to other tracking. Please be sure the log has date, hours, organization, supervisor, and a brief description. Submit hours by the deadlines listed below. Late submissions will be ordered for the following period - no sweat!
Deadlines for recognition processing
August 14 for September 30, 2023 ceremony at Arequipa during Songs & S'mores
February 12 for March TBD, 2023 ceremony at Bothin during Camporee
RBSU will gather submissions twice a year to order award packages and celebrate in a ceremony. The first of these will be at our Songs & S'mores campfire Arequipa on September 30, 2023. The second will be at Camporee in March 2024.
