The Greater Philadelphia GeoHistory Network has both directories in scanned form and an initial search engine that currently (20 July 2010) searches surnames A-N for the 1861 McElroy's Philadelphia directory. Plans are in place to update the search engine to include all surnames from all directories on that site.

Links to directories at New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) are to the images themselves, which are browsable. Non-subscribers will not be able to view these. Non-subscribers can, however, use the search engine and see a listing of possible results (but no images or further details).
