Code

The Aegean source finding algorithm. Described in Hancock, et al. 2018. The AegeanTools package provides source finding, background and noise estimation, and utilities for performing source measurements.

The Robbie program, described in Hancock et al. 2019, is a variable and transient detection workflow. Robbie was inspired by the VAST pipeline, but uses a batch rather than stream based processing approach. Robbie is now orchestrated by Nextflow and uses Docker containers to manage software dependencies.

The MWA-fast-image-transients pipeline is a set of bash scripts that will allow a user to easily download, calibrate, and image MWA observations on the Pawsey super-computing facility. This pipeline borrows heavily from the GLEAM-X-pipeline. These two programs were developed by Dr Hurley-Walker, Dr Anderson, and myself.

The fits_warp program is designed to correct low frequency radio images that have been adversely affected by the ionosphere. The program is described in Hurley-Walker & Hancock, 2018.

I am one of the main developers of the MWA VOEvent triggering front end (mwa_trigger) described in Hancock et al. 2019. This software allows the MWA telescope to automatically respond to notices distributed as a VOEvent. It is currently being used to provide fast follow up of Gamma-Ray Bursts, Flare Stars, Cosmic Rays, and Gravitational Wave Events.

The Variable And Slow Transients (VAST) survey is one of the key science projects for the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP). In 2011 helped to develop the VAST pipeline prototype as described in Banyer et al. 2012. This pipeline was designed to provide a near-real time analysis of images generated by AKSAP and to monitor and identify radio sources.

To better understand how interstellar scintillation can affect radio observations of extragalactic radio sources I developed the RISS19 program. The program and models are described in Hancock et al. 2019.
