Writing about my Art

My goal is to satisfy my clients. I paint on wood, canvas, masonite, metal, just about any material in any shape or size, from a flat piece of wood to an old rocking chair. All my pieces are original and made with a painstaking attention to detail.

Since my return from France, summer 2019, I have focused on fulfilling portrait commissions. It is far easier to travel with rolled up canvas and a few tubes of oil paints and a couple of brushes, than lugging around pieces of wood. And, it seems, I am traveling more frequently now. Therefore, the need to travel light.

My portraits are always from a photograph, prefer to take the photo myself, then client and I decide, from series of photographs, which they prefer. Traveling again in France early 2020, look forward to earning more portrait commissions.

Take great joy in painting, especially fish and mermaids, and believe giving a second chance to furniture. Perhaps that old trunk sitting in the attic can be rehabilitated into a centerpiece for a girl's bedroom or an old end table, paint it, a perfect compliment to a boy's room.

Do not paint on antiques. Fine quality wood with a fine patina is not something to destroy.

Subject matter varies, sometimes a client wants something specific, or they have an idea. I do sketches and discuss in detail what exactly they need. I want clients to be happy with the outcome.

Most people have a sense of my style, there are no big surprises with the outcome. For commissions, budget is established, and I always take deposit, along with a signed Contract. Expectations are in writing. I work within a deadline.

Finally, yes I do ship my art, pricing is separate.
