Bio

Sheikh Abujar is currently pursuing a Ph.D. In Computer Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He also received the prestigious Blazer Doctorate Fellowship. Broadly, his methodological research focuses on applications of deep learning, computer vision, speech recognition, and data science. Before starting his Ph.D., Sheikh was a lecturer in the department of computer science and engineering at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), where he is currently on study leave. Prior to joining IUB, he was a faculty member at the Daffodil International University (Sep 2017 - Jan 2021) and at the Britannia University (Feb 2015 - Aug 2017). He received his Bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from the Daffodil International University and a Master's degree in computer science from Jahangirnagar University. He has published his research works in several Scopus Indexed proceedings of IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier, and he has served on several International conferences and journals as a reviewer. Many of his and his student's research work has won the “ Best Research Paper - Award” at many International Conferences. He is the Founder and Supervisor of the Computational Intelligence LAB (CI LAB), Previously known as: DIU - NLP and Machine Learning Research LAB.


He likes traveling, swimming, cycling, and playing badminton.
