Teaching
In the past I have taught various topics in ecology and evolution at the universities of Zürich (Switzerland), Cape Town (South Africa) and Stellenbosch (South Africa). I am currently teaching biology at Université Grenoble Alpes and am particularly involved in the following courses:
plant biology (anatomy and morphology) for 1st year students / BIO202
evolutionary biology for 1st year students / BIO202
Since 2022 I am the responsible of the whole 'Evolutionary and Organismal biology' (BIO202) course, which is taught to c. 400 students each year. The course includes lectures in evolutionary, animal and plant biology, as well as practicals in evolutionary and animal biology.
population genetics for 2nd year students / BIO302
The population genetics course includes both lectures and practicals. Over the years I have put together a handout for the population genetics course that I am teaching to 2nd year students. This document is free to download and use, it is available in French and English.
general ecology for 2nd year students / BIO403
In this course I am mostly involved in a field excursion to the 'Marais de Montfort' wetland close to Grenoble. This field excursion aims to illustrate all the basic concepts of ecology that students have seen in lectures and practicals.
molecular biology for honour's students
This course largely relies on practicals where I teach tools for both 1) biodiversity inventories using eDNA and 2) high-throughput genotyping with applications to phylogenomics. After students produce their data they analyze them using various bioinformatic tools and have to work on a small research project on one of these themes.
