Bensoniana (Humphreys 1912), Two title-pages, the first shown above (reproduced on dust jacket). The second has title in red lettering, author and publisher in black. Illustrated with five small engraved sepia-toned plates in the classical style, depicting mainly pastoral scenes. The charming end-plate, with the signatures of the eighteenth-century artists C. P. Marilllier, and E de Ghendt, depicts a bird on a branch suspending a basket of flowers. Also issued in Vellum calf and half leather with gold lettering to spine (as shown). The book is a collection of amusing and clever quotations from various books by Benson.

THOUGHTS FROM E F BENSON, Selected by Elise E Morton (Harrap 1913). This is the second book of quotations from Benson, published perhaps on the strength of the popularity of the one above. Some wonderful observations; "It matters very little what people look like if only they behave as if they were Venuses." and "Almost everyone who is nice is nice because the nonsense has not been knocked out of him. People without heaps of nonsense are merely prigs." There was a second volume complied by H B Elliott in 1916, see below.
