About Dr. Dharmendra Joshi (Dr. DJ)

Dr. Joshi, a Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgeon, is from Bode, Madhyapurthimi, Bhaktapur, Nepal. He received primary education from Ganesh English School in his native place. With outstanding distinction marks, he passed School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination from SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Sanothimi, Nepal. He was honored by Neelbarahi Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Limited, for achieving the best marks in SLC among all students in his village Bode (his birthplace). 

He studied higher secondary in SOS Hermann Gmeiner Higher Secondary School, Bhaktapur, Nepal with scholarship. He developed his leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills when he was chosen as the senior prefect (Head Boy) during grade twelve for one year. Later, he was nominated to visit Newington College in Australia where he learned about the Australian education system, cultural diversity, etc.

Upon returning from Australia, intending to serve mankind, he joined Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College and Hospital, Sylhet, Bangladesh to pursue a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). It was his dedication that helped him achieve honors marks in Surgery and Physiology and secure 4th position in the University for which he was awarded a full scholarship for the tuition fee. He passed MBBS in 2011 and completed his internship training course of one (1) year duration from the same college and hospital. Subsequently, he secured his Nepal Medical Council registration no. 12656. 

Hence, he became eligible to serve mankind. He worked with utmost dedication in various top hospitals of Nepal like Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (Department of Emergency), Kathmandu Medical College and Hospital (KMC Community Hospital), Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center (Department of Cardiac Surgery), etc. To treat and provide a smile on the face of patients via surgery, he fulfilled his dream of post-graduation in MS Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh in February 2020. He has been registered as the Specialist Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgeon in Nepal after he passed the special license exam taken by Nepal Medical Council. 

He continuously updates his knowledge and skills for better care of his patients. He has participated in various seminars and conferences at national and international level. Many of his articles (medical and non-medical) are published in the educational magazine and school magazines of Nepal and Australia, and many indexed journals. He has also received training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). 

He is interested not only in medical sciences but also in other skills like computer skills, table tennis, and basketball game. He was the assistant coach of the basketball team during his stay at Newington College, Australia. He is fluent in speaking many languages viz. Newari, Nepali, English, Bengali, and Hindi. He has also completed a one-year Junior course in the French language from the Institute of Modern Languages, Dhaka University.

He has hosted many programs and volunteered on various important occasions like SOS International Conference.  He has volunteered in many medical and non-medical camps as well. He has contributed to the relief campaign organized by SOS Hermann Gmeiner School for natural calamities victims. He was actively involved in the relief program for earthquake victims on April 12, 2015, in Dhading, Nepal, along with a dedicated team of doctors from Bangladesh. He has gained good experience in CTVS by working for 2 years in one of the best corporate hospitals in Nepal, Nepal Mediciti Hospital, Lalitpur, Nepal. He is currently working as Registrar at the best cardiac center in Nepal, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, Bansbari, Kathmandu, Nepal.
