Roy Dobson's BMG Newsletter for February has been added to the website, on the meeting reports page, and Les and Martin Finch's 2012 report for tetrad SU88R (near Maidenhead) has been added to our bibliography page.

Many thanks to Les, Martin and Roy for providing these documents.

For those who want the quick-read version, here is the Summary Overview from Les and Martin's report (but do look at the full report as well, which has lots of information and analysis):

  • 1,842 ‘trap nights’ were achieved during the year, all being at one general location within the tetrad.

  • Unusual weather patterns during the year affected the emergence of adult moths, some species being adversely affected.

  • 14,452 macro moths in 243 species(excluding aggregates) were seen, including 2 species(Cypress Pug and Bordered Sallow, both of 'local' status) new to the tetrad.

  • Captured moths continue to be released in the vicinity of the trapping area, so that reported catches may be inflated by approximately 10%.

  • Regular recording within SU88R during the last 9 years has produced 357 species(excluding aggregates) in total. This represents 56.0% of the total number of macro moth species recorded within Berkshire(VC22).
