Read the 2021 moth report from Les Finch and Martin Finch

The long-running series of reports that Les and Martin Finch produce contain a wealth of fascinating information, and their report for 2021 is now available, covering their home tetrad in Maidenhead. This provides lists of all the species recorded, with the more unusual ones highlighted. And alongside this there is lots of hugely intriguing analysis of how numbers of both species and individual moths are changing, and how this relates to weather patterns. More individual moths and more species were recorded in 2021 compared to 2020, although numbers of individuals were still down on the total for 2019.
