How Much Do We Pay?

Residents of our LRSA have not changed our mill rate since the LRSA was created. Residents pay 1.5 mill (the tax per dollar of assessed value of property. The rate is expressed in "mills", where one mill is one-tenth of a cent($0.001)). The lowest LRSA rate is a 1.0 mill rate, so while not the lowest of the LRSA rates, ours is among the lowest.

This money is paid along with your other municipality taxes, and is based on the assessed value of your property. Only property owners in the LRSA pay this tax but it is probably added to a rental fee. As property values have increased in the Bear Valley community, and as more costly homes have been built, our tax revenue has increased. The budget for the 2018 fiscal year is $54,000.

At urging from residents on several occasions, the road board decided to request an increase in the mill rate, but all of the requests have been denied by the Muni.
