Spiritual Life

We believe that education should be Christ-centered and reflect the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church.

We believe that every person is a child of God and worthy of love, respect, and dignity.

We believe that Catholic faith and values should be modeled through our choices, actions, and the service we give to others.

Each Friday at 8:30, the students and faculty of SHS attend Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. This is a wonderful time for the SHS community to come together as a community of faith. All parents are also welcome to attend our weekly school Mass.

The People Respecting Others Award is given each month to the student in each grade who embodies the Spirit of our IHM school: a spirit of prayer, love and service, courtesy and hospitality. Our monthly recipients are posted on our Facebook and Twitter.

Service is an important part of our mission. To be a responsible member of society requires awareness, concern and action to make the world a better place. All classes participate in service of some kind throughout the year. Seventh and eighth graders are required to fill a number of hours of service in order to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. The Student Council promotes the entire student body to participate in projects adopted by the council.

The ideal outcome of community service is that students develop an awareness of the world around them and are inspired to make it a better place by their presence and efforts.
