Guidance and Leadership

Students at Garden Ridge Elementary get to meet with the counselor as a class every three weeks to focus on guidance and leadership. Weekly counseling emails are sent out via Skylert using the email address you have linked to Skyard so you can stay up-to-date with what your child is learning.

In guidance, we use the district-provided Second Step curriculum to address self esteem, listening and learning skills, bullying and reporting situations, problem-solving skills, and ways to stay safe. Lessons specific to classroom needs and based on each month's character trait are included as well.

Upcoming Guidance Lessons:

• October: We are discussing how to have a positive mindset and how to change a negative perspective into a positive one.

• November/December: Our lessons will cover the Second Step Bullying Prevention curriculum.
