About Me

Emily Lindbjørg Spratt is a New York City native, although she has lived all over Europe and the Mediterranean for her work and research. Her favorite places to have been a resident include: Athens, Greece; Berlin, Germany; Corfu, Greece; Venice, Italy; Nicosia, Cyprus; Rome, Italy; Los Angeles, CA; and if you count hiking in a place for more than a few months, the Serengeti, Tanzania, and Lamu, Kenya, too. Outside of her teaching, research, and advisory, Emily is a photographer, songwriter, environmentalist, and advocate of animal rights.

Emily is also an avid language learner. She has studied Modern Greek, Byzantine Greek, Ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Old Church Slavonic, Czech, Bulgarian, Russian, Kiswahili, and historical linguistics. When she is not working, you can find her walking Pumba, her myth-inspiring bichon frise, in Central Park.
