News & Information

December 2021

Pool Information:

  • Foothill practice on Tuesday will continue through January, Sunday practices are on hold.

  • We are pursuing Fremont HS as a pool option with a possible start in February. The club remains open to other pool options - please reach out if you have any other idea's or leads.

  • Most pools require us to provide our own lifeguards - please reach out if you are interested in gaining your lifeguard certification.

Spot Court Removal

  • January 22 @ 4pm. We need as many hands and vehicles as possible to remove the court quickly.

  • We will have an after party to encourage club member participation.

Club Information:

  • We are moving away from CENCAL.

  • Club members will be required to join USOA and purchase a club membership ($30) by January 17

  • Fee structure - $17 per practice (Sign-up highly encouraged), $5 additional charge if you have insufficient funds to cover your practice. Fee's will be reviewed when we find a long term home - we can not continue to run at a loss.

  • Due to low turnouts and lack of momentum, we will temporarily be reducing practices to 1 night per week.

Youth program

    • Some youth have been attending adult practice. Their regular attendance has been helpful in covering pool costs.

    • Kids recommended for Sunday, Tuesday will be geared towards the adults.

    • Oren trying to start a youth program in March

Member loss / retention / growth

    • Loss - Many of the core players moved away or have stopped attending.

    • Retention - The goal for 2022 is to build a stronger community and work on player retention. We need to host more member events and generate a stronger social aspect to the club. BBQs, camping trips, post hockey meals were ideas suggested.

    • Growth - USOA has a development fund that we can apply for to help support a beginner program. We can try and set up a class potentially with the City of Sunnyvale at Freemont HS.

New Suits

    • Maddy found a company out of LA, once we have a more secure pool and club momentum we will look into this further.
