FAQ

Q: Can a traveler stop in? Are transient Airstreams welcome for a few nights? - S & B, Santa Rosa Beach, FL

A: We do not have accommodations for overnight guests. Ponderosa Shadows is a "membership only" Airstream Park. Our organization's tax status prevents us from making a profit or running a business. We DO, however, have memberships for sale from time to time. Those memberships that are for sale may offer a one-time, FREE 3-night stay on their site to interested buyers! Check out our "Classifieds" section, and consider joining the Park!

Q: Do you give a description of your residents? .....we wonder if we would "fit"? - L & B, Oro Valley, AZ

A: In general, our members are all friendly, fun-loving, and respectable! Some are what might be called liberal, and some are what might be called conservative. Some are what might be called religious, and some not so much! The same goes for politics! We are a mix of all viewpoints and persuasions! We all share a desire to keep our sites and our Park in good condition, enjoy each other's camaraderie, and relax in the beauty of the natural Ponderosa woodland setting.

Q: If we buy a membership, do we have to keep our trailer at Ponderosa Shadows all season long? We like to travel in our Airstream! - K & L, Phoenix, AZ

A: There is no requirement that members must park their Airstreams at the Park all season long. Many members do pack up and drive away for a week or more and then return when their “vacation” trip is over!

Q: Are members allowed to have pets at the Park? - B & B, Manzanita, OR

A: Dogs and cats must be kept in trailers or on their owner’s site. They are allowed anywhere else in the Park (except the Activity Hall - service animals only in there) - if they are on a leash. And, of course, owners are required to clean up all pet waste immediately!

All pets should have current rabies and other standard vaccinations as there are wild critters roaming the Park that could carry disease!

Q: Can our friends and relatives visit us at the Park even though they are not 55 or older? - R & J, Phoenix, AZ

A: Members may have guests stay in the “guest space” on their sites for up to 14 nights per visit and a total of 21 nights total per season. The member must be present while their guest is in the Park, and is responsible for all guest behavior. The guest must pay the current guest fee for each night they are in the Park (this covers the cost of extra utilities used). Members should refer to the Park Rules for further details!

Q: Is it necessary to participate in group activities? I am anti-social and would rather stay in my trailer all the time! - S, Fairbanks, AK

A: Members are not required to socialize with each other. However, in the interest of neighborliness, it is recommended that each member contribute in some way to the atmosphere of camaraderie and good nature that exists in the Park.

Social activities are part of our non-profit organization’s purpose, and the majority of the Park’s maintenance, upkeep, and improvements are provided by Member volunteers’ labor. Certainly not all Members are physically able to perform strenuous work chores, and not everyone likes to play cards.

Generally everyone pitches in to help in whatever way they can! This is how we keep the Park in good shape, and how we make new friends and learn from each other!

Q: Can we buy more than one membership and then sell one of them to make some money? - T & T, Los Angeles, CA

A: No.

Q: I am a computer nerd and my wife can't miss her afternoon soaps and the weekly wrestling matches. Does the Park have WIFI and Cable TV? - S & F, Sun Lakes, AZ

A: Most of our members are computer literate and most have a TV. The Park has its own WIFI network for basic email & Web surfing use. Streaming and other high-bandwith is being experimented with. All sites are wired for Cable TV. Members may contract individually with Sparklight. Satellite coverage is excellent!
