Tips For Speaking in Public

HOMEWORK POLICY - On average, most students will have at least 45 minutes a night in science homework. If you are not assigned specific homework or if you are away on a particular day, prioritize your homework time as follows...

1 - Make sure that you understood what was learned in class. Read the section of the text book, make sure you have complete notes, review any new terms, check your understanding against the practice questions at the end of the chapter or chapters studied in class that day.

2 - Make sure that you are prepared for the next day. Read & prepare for labs or quizes. Read ahead in your text book if you have been warned that the next topic is complex or if you have been struggling to keep up.

3 - Spend some time working on major projects. Each unit will typically involve at least one research project or investigation that you will be working on for a week or more. Spend some time on this so that you will have something to contribute the next time your group gets together.

4 - Prepare for tests & quizes. Check out the link to "Study Hints" on the left hand side of this page for ideas on how you can be preparing for your next quiz or test. If you haven't had a quiz in over a week, count on having one soon!!!

5 - Go outside. See if you can identify the reproductive structures on the plants in your garden. Take apart an old electrical appliance and see how the wires connect. Go outside after dark and see how many constellations you can identify. With the first 5 objects you see, identify as many of their properties as you can, identify a rock or sketch something in detail.
