Show, See and Compete

The Guild offers members a chance to participate in friendly competitions and display their work at meetings or in occasional exhibitions.

  • Members are also encouraged to display and talk about their current projects at Guild meetings each month. Items on the monthly Display Table are included on the Display Table website.

  • The Guild's Birthday Challenge is held each year. Items are made to a theme or common materials and judged by a vote of members at the Birthday meeting in May.

  • Guild Groups are invited to display the results of their annual work program at the Guild's December meeting. Individuals involved in group projects also share their work as it progresses.

The Guild sponsors the prizes in the Adelaide Royal Show competition classes in spinning, weaving and related crafts (which includes textile jewellery and felting). Members and other interested craftsmen and women are encouraged to enter any the competition classes of interest. Names of the prize winners can be found on the Royal Show's website.

The Guild sponsors the related handicraft prizes in the Clare Show, which is held in October. The Guild welcomes feedback from all participants about how well the competition classes work and are interested in any suggestions to improve the competition.
