Sport & Keep Fit

Sport is alive and well in Grittleton for all ages!

Cricket has been played in Grittleton since at least 1868!  We use the 100 year old pavilion at the top of the green.  Grittleton CC play Sunday friendly cricket, with the pitch also used by the Neeld Arms and local companies for midweek thrashes.  Players of all abilities are welcome to join.  The pitch is also for hire.  See the cricket club website for full details.

The Society dates from 1985 and holds four competitions each year.  It is open to all standards of golfer and enjoys excellent social events after these competitions.

Nigel’s Enormous Pot is a Stableford competition held in memory of a dear friend who lived in the village.  It usually takes place at the end of March at The Manor House Golf Club at Castle Combe.

The ‘Open’ Championship is an individual Stableford held at the same venue in July each year.

Swillers & Shankers is a fun event in October where players are matched in pairs by a blind draw after playing Stableford.  The combined best score wins.

Finally, The Neeld Arms Christmas Trophy is a Texas Scramble held on the 27th December each year and kindly sponsored by the Village Pub.
