2018 Great Lakes Region Taiji Performance Festival and "Charming China" Sino-American Culture and Art Festival ended successfully

In this sunny and beautiful autumn in October, the Great Lakes region Taiji Performance Festival was completed under the full support of the Chinese Consulate General in Chicago, the Confucius Institute at the University of Michigan, Chinese Association of Greater Detroit, and the full support of the Annhua Association. This is 7th annual Great Lakes Region Taiji Performance Festival. The festival provides a good platform for Taiji enthusiasts of different ethnic groups in the region, so that everyone has the opportunity to get together and listen to the masters, watch the masters performing and watch each other. As one of the series of activities of this year's "Charming China" Sino-American Culture and Art Festival, this festival fully demonstrates the unique charm of Taiji.

Consuls of the Overseas Chinese Division of the Consulate-General of P.R.C in Chicago, Liu Qing and Wang Yuan, made a special trip to support the festival. The role played and the contribution made in promoting Sino-US cultural exchanges and Chinese traditional culture by the Great Lakes Taiji Association have been fully affirmed and highly praised by consul Liu Qing.

The workshops of well-known masters Han Hoong Wang and Alex Wu were widely welcomed, and participants expressed their interest.

Nine Taiji teams from the surrounding areas of the Great Lakes Region participated in the festival. The performances were colorful: broadsword, sword, , stick, and hand form were on the scene. Each team left a deep impression on the audience with their unique performance style. The White Crane team from Lansing performed politely; the Michigan Taiji Association team showed a physical and mental input, and the Michigan Taiji Center team demonstrated its skill; the Golden Year team explained the old and strong; Dr. Gu Jie and Zhou Yudong and his teammates demonstrated the push hand intuitively explained the philosophy of Taiji movement of yin and yang; the Anhua, Jianshen, Kangle, and Great Lakes Taiji teams have been practicing for many years, and their performance has been improved year by year; the performance of the Taiji Star team strong skills are undoubtedly the highest level of the Taiji team in the region. The elders who participated in this Taiji performance will also have 11-year-olds. This fully demonstrates that Taiji is a sport for all ages, and the number of Taiji lovers of different ethnicities proves that the more cultural specific the more the world.

2018五⼤湖地区太极观摩演示交流会暨“魅力中国”中美文化艺术节圆满落幕

在这风和⽇丽的金秋十月,五大湖地区太极观摩演示交流大会在中国驻芝加哥总领事馆、密西根大学孔子学院、底特律中国⼈协会的⼤力赞助以及安华协会的全⼒⽀持下圆满落下帷幕。⼀年⼀度 的太极⼤会今年已是第七届,⼤会为本地区不同族裔的太极爱好者提供了⼀个很好的平台,使⼤家有机会相聚在⼀起,听⼤师讲课,看⼤师表演并互相观摩学习。作为今年的“魅⼒中国”中美⽂化艺术节的系列活动之⼀,本次⼤会充分展现了太极的独特魅⼒。

中国驻芝加哥总领事馆海外华⼈部领事柳⻘、王芸专程到会以表⽀持, 柳⻘领事为⼤会祝词, 她对于五大湖太极协会在促进中美⽂化交流,弘扬中华传统⽂化中所发挥的作⽤和所做贡献给予了充 分的肯定和高度赞扬。

知名拳师王涵蓉⽼师、巫春涛老师的讲座受到广泛欢迎,与会者纷纷表示受益匪浅。

本次大会共有来自五大湖周边地区的九支太极队参加了表演,表演内容丰富多彩:刀、剑、 拳、 棍轮番登场,各队都以自己独特的表演风格给观众留下了深刻的印象,来自兰辛的白鹤队表 现得温文尔雅;密西根太极协会队展现的是身心投入贯注,密西根太极中心队体现的是功力;金色年华队诠释了老当益壮;顾杰博士和周宇东拳师及其队友所演示的推手以阴阳虚实的矛盾运动直观地解释了太极的哲学思想;安华,健身、康乐、五湖太极几支队伍经过多年习练,水平逐年提高,表现也可圈可点;太极星队阵容强大基本功扎实,无疑是本地区水平很高的太极队。参加本次太极大会 表演的有耄耋老人,也有11岁的少年,这充分说明了太极是一项老少皆宜的体育运动,⽽为数众多 的不同族裔的太极爱好者更加证明了越是民族的越是世界的。
