2022 Austin Area Cycling 

Lettering Policy for Austin Public Schools and Pacelli Catholic Schools

1.       For cyclists in Austin Public Schools, register with the activities office to be eligible, fee of $25. This fee is not required in subsequent lettering years. For Pacelli Catholic Schools, contact the athletic director.

2.       2 seasons with the high school team, participating in all JV or varsity races (current year). DNF counts.  Exclusions include injury, illness, family decision. Limited to 1 per season. Injury and illness lasting more than 1 race will be subject to coaches discretion and rider participation and attitude at races and practices.

3.       2 trail work sessions (4 hours)

4.       4 hours additional bike or non-bike related community service

5.       Meet the league and team sportsmanship and conduct standards, with no substance abuse violations, and in good academic standing.

6.       Demonstrate team spirit/ leadership at race events and practices

7.       Participate at all practices and races during the race season from August 22 to October 16 less one unexcused absence

8.       Discuss goals for the season with head coach

9.       Equipment manager may letter based on season performance, if applicable

10.   Notify head coach/team director at the start of the season with intent to letter. Develop a realistic plan to achieve the requirements.

11.   Performance: 

a.       Compete in a JV3 or varsity race

b.      Finish in top 25% of JV2 at the end of season ranking

c.       Podium finish in any race in season

d.      Contributes to team scoring points in 2 races

e.      Coaches discretion based on athlete’s participation and performance over 2 or more years.
