What a great kit this aquarium fertilizer system is on a few levels. First, the price is amazing when you compare it to anything off the shelf. You get to reuse your bottles over and over by creating more mixs with just this one kit. You dont have to toss the bottles when your done, you just keep making more. I love this fact from a pollution stand point. So much better than tossing your bottles away in the trash. Good on Green Leaf Aquariums for that. My 6 tanks love PPS-Pro dosing using this new micro DTPA/EDTA. If you pride yourself on your aquascapes then dont be foolish thinking a bottle of Tropica or similar will be better, because it will not. This system covers all the micros and macros and you get to tailor your mix should you feel the need. Fantastic! Thanks GLA for all the support, you have a customer for life.

Wow!

This was my first go at using PPS system after using off the shelf dosing solutions. I liked the ease of just pumping a few squirts and walking away. However this proved to not be a long term solution. For starters, why buy a single bottle and toss the bottle away when your done? With this kit you can reuse your bottles over and over. You can create many mix's with just one kit... Your saving the planet by using this system. Do you loose anything by not using off the shelf stuff? Answer, absolutely not. Its simple, look what this kit cost and consider what you pay for that off the shelf premix. No brainer people. Its as easy as making waffles. My 2 tanks I use this system on are very happy and growth is phenomenal. I only wish I went this route years ago.

Worth every penny, says my planted tank

Wonderfull fertilizer kit using DTPA/EDTA Micros, nobody else is doing this. GLA is always stepping it up with new new. This single kit I suspect will last me many years of use.

100% guaranteed satisfaction!!! Absolute must for any aquarist looking to improve overall health of plants! Noticed new growth even after the first couple of days. Easy to mix and dose. Well worth the investment, I'll recommend and reorder!

07-02-2020 James

Was a little skeptical because it was my first time using dry fertilizer. But my plants Love it Awesome product!! I will definitely be ordering again

Better Than Flourish

You can make many MANY batches of micro and macro nutrients. This will last years for me!

04-29-2020 Robert Arnold

No more expensive "tropical" premixed ferts for my tank! After started using this 4 days ago April 25, 2020 and the results of daily dosing are SUPER OBVIOUS, bacopa extending roots from multiple points up the stems, guppy grass that's almost more roots than leaves! And I haven't even set up the CO2 system yet.

04-27-2020 Charles

Only been a week and my plants have perked up noticeably. Easy to mix. Easy to dose. Price efficient. The amount you receive is enough to last a long time. Also the jars are easy to store. Was recommended by a friend and I would recommend to others.

02-26-2020 Arthur Miller

Why did I wait so long!

I should have started using GLA PPS-Pro years ago. I was sold on buying all in one solutions for ease of use but man did that turn out to be an absolute waste of my money. This PPS-Pro kit will make you several batches of 2x 500ml micro and macro solutions. Did you even look at the price? No brainer folks, you would be foolish to use all in one solutions or a version of store bought premixed solution. You gain nothing from going that route as I have learned the hard way. My tanks look like they are on plant steroids and I took great pleasure selling my clippings to my local club. Winner winner chicken dinner!

02-18-2020 Greg Minnor

Worth every penny

I was looking for aquarium fertilizers for my new 75g tank. after going back and forth with options I decided on GLA PPS-Pro system. It arrived quickly and neatly packed. Creating the solutions took a few minutes. I was excited to start dosing so I waited a few months to post this review. Since using PPS-Pro my tank has taken off to a new level. Ive sold most of my clippings already to friends to where my tank is paying me back. What I like most about this system is its affordability and longevity. With one kit you literally make loads of liquid solutions. You can dose both on the same day or opposite days and even adjust your recipe to your tanks precise needs. Im a chemist by nature so I really enjoyed playing around with my dosage levels and watching what plants liked and did not like. The dosing bottles are a breeze to use, just squeeze and pore. They also include a pipette with each bottle for nano tanks which i found neat. I since started a desk top vase to try it out. Overall very happy PPS-Pro, you will be too.

02-12-2020 Brandon Smith

Best thing I ever did for my aquascape.

I finally took the plunge with PPS-Pro and Im so glad I did on several fronts. My aquascape has never looked so rich and full of color. I retired my all in one solutions finally as they were way overpriced and I never saw the results I wanted. I think newbies are truly being scammed from what there tank can actually look like if you spent 5 minutes creating PPS-Pro. You have more control of your nutrient variables. You also know precisely how much your dosing of micro and macro solutions. I feel this is where plants really respond well to PPS-Pro dosing. My Monte Carlo carpet has never looked so rich and full. My bucephelandras are flowering for the first time ever. So many of the plants in my tank are really taking off using GLA PPS-Pro.

02-03-2020 Adam Wood

What more could you possible ask for?

During my search for a last ditch fertilizer solution for my aquscaping needs I came to GLA for help. I calculated I was spending about $280+ a year on plant fertilizer for my aquascapes, wtf! I put an end to that rite away after talking with GLA on what direction I should go. I chose PPS-Pro last summer, and I still have more batches I can make with this one kit! Never! Never again will I buy premixed fertilizer solutions. You would be foolish to spend that kind of money on premixed solution when you can easily mix your own at home in 5 minutes. Not only that but your in complete control of your micros and macros. My aquascapes have started to thrive on this fertilizer system. Growth is much more colorful and I no longer have any green dust algae problems. PPS-Pro has been a blessing!

01-29-2020 Stephen Marks

Saved my tank

This package is by far the smartest dosing system you can buy and it will cost you pennies compared to buying premixed solutions. First, premixed solutions are mostly water. You end up tossing more bottles in the landfill than necessary unless you have a really good recycling program. This kit will allow you to make many batches of 500ml Micro and Macro solutions. This is a totally complete dosing system that has everything you would need. I had no idea what I was doing when I purchased this kit and after mixing my first batch I knew I would never buy premixed solutions ever again. Save your wallet and go with PPS-Pro!

01-27-2020 Natalie

Highly recommend PPS-Pro!

Thanks GLA! My aquascapes are finally turning around. I was having some issues with deficiency using my previous liquid fertilizer. While the vendor and label said the all in one solution was complete I had my doubts. Im not sure what happened but when I switched to PPS-Pro fertilizers my plants within a week took off like nothing before. I do feel the PPS system is a more clean dosing system, thats the best way I can describe it. When I dumped my All in One solution I was using previously into a glass jar, what I saw was not pleasant. To me it looked like black dirty water with loads of sediment in it. It just didnt work like PPS-Pro does. My 30g tank and bookshelf tank look really great. My HC is getting a nice rich green vs pale green and my Tonina is looking amazing. I struggled with these two plants for a good while and after switching to PPS-Pro these plants are now just plants I have to trim regularly. I no longer worry if I have enough essential nutrients because I have complete control. Gotta love that!

01-27-2020 Adam Lavine

Highly recommend PPS-Pro

Ok so I was a little unsure of myself when going this route for my tank. Previously all I have been using are all in one fertilizers. They worked ok, but I noticed some issues, a lot actually. One issue off the bat was while my plants were living, none of them were looking nearly as good as members in my local club. I used all the brands of liquid fertilizer all in one solutions. They were extremely costly, that's a huge factor. I don't think they worked nearly as well as GLA PPS-Pro system though. My plants pearl much faster in the morning instead of noon time. My colors re super vibrant and I don't notice any more pinholes in my plant leaves. Besides my plants all looking fantastic now I my wife noticed after only 5 months of using PPS-Pro I don't spend nearly as much as I did when using the premixed liquid solutions. With one kit I cam make several batches of fertilizers. Mixing is super easy and not any different than making your favorite drink. It takes me about 4 minutes to create two bottles of high quality Micro and Macro fertilizers. I am saving loads of money and spending it on plants instead. You absolutely will be thrilled with this kit. Its incredibly inexpensive and you get to reuse the bottles over and over again vs constantly buying bottles you just toss in the trash. With this kit your doing the planet a favor and your aquascape as well. Highly recommend PPS-Pro fertilizers.

01-22-2020 Paul Savios

My plants never looked this good!

Last week was my last week dosing all in one liquid solutions. The cost is astronomical in any tank larger than 30g. This PPS kit I can already tell is going to save me loads of money but not only that my plants literally took off after only 5 days of dosing. This kit is far more economical than any premixed liquid solution. I have never seen my plants respond to dosing before like they do with GLA fertilizers. My plants are finally pearling and my glosso has sped up in growth to where I feel a carpet is finally near. GLA ferts are the way to go no doubt about it. Do your tank a favor and go with GLA PPS-Pro. Your tank will be glad you did! :)

12-23-2019 Aaron

So happy!

Im so glad I finally took the plunge for PPS-Pro dosing. Ive been using it for over a year now and I calculated the amount of money I saved by not having to purchase the usual premixed fertilizer bottles. My god people! Those premixed bottles are not only horrible for the environment because you just throw them away, but they are terribly overpriced. Not only that but I also found out that the liquids made overseas contain all sorts of terrible ingredients. By using this PPS kit your not only helping the environment by not providing loads of plastic waste but your saving yourself money buy not buying new bottles of fertilizer all the time. In one year I have saved almost $100 by not having to buy premixed bottles of plant food. Its a no brainer people.

A serious upgrade in plant growth!

Apparently, I’ve just been stumbling along not quite stripping my plants of all their joy and health. Converting my fertilizer routine from dosing liquid fertilizer to using this collection was apparently a game changer for me. About 10 days into the new program, GLA’s PPS-pro collection and I can practically see my plants growing. Probably 4” of vertical growth on stem plants last week using co2 and good, strong lighting. I’m totally floored by what I’m seeing and I owe it all to the good people at GLA for laying out all the materials and info in one place!

Very happy with (finally) making the switch to dry ferts.

I'd been on the fence with finally making the switch to dry ferts, and so far I am very happy with the results I've seen in my plant's health since I've start using the GLA PPS-Pro Aquarium Fertilizer Package. I've never been a fan of much anything packaged in resealable bags, when given the option of getting the same product in jars it was an obvious choice for me. I find that in jars, they just store so much easier, they're stackable, cleaner to work with, and all around more convenient and less messy. The dosing bottles make mixing and dosing a breeze - though I did find that the Micros took 24+ hours to fully dissolve into distilled water - sediment seemed to linger for a couple days at most, after initially mixing. I use this primarily for a 12 gallon long tank, and was pleasantly surprised to find a pair (total) of pipettes packaged inside each the dosing bottles - which makes the small dosing quantities i require (I dose 1ml macros, 0.5ml micros for my tank) making it far more easier than what i anticipated to accurately dose than when I first looked at the bottles. I imagine for larger tank volumes, the dosing reservoir that fills when you squeeze the bottle would be quite convenient and handy when you're working with tanks in the 50+ gallon range. Moreover, I'm really satisfied with the product, and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for (any) fertilizer, or those ready to make the switch to dry ferts and mixing their own/direct-to-tank dry dosing. A++ product, customer service and selection from the fine folks at Green Leaf Aquariums!

Overall great experience. Plants love it. More vibrant plant.

01-11-2007 Dataseeker

There are any number of threads here by those with years more experience than I have. So, what I offer certainly can not be considered gospel. That said, here is a brief overview of my experience with PPS-Classic.

It works for me. I have been literally harvesting plants from this tank about once a week. The first few weeks there were wide swings in the dosing quantities. I followed the recommended amounts called out on the Excel sheet for dosing after entering the measured test results. Once things settled and natural cycles came into line, the parameters stayed on the money.

I followed the prescribed methods in the PPS-Classic documentation to the letter. The most enlightening experience was checking the test kit’s color charts against standardized solutions that I mixed. PPM for nitrates were off by a factor of two. For phosphates they were one half or needed to be divided by two. The standard solutions were mixed very carefully with a calibrated scale. I was really surprised by the results.

If what you want is a system of adding know quantities of fertilizers to the water column of your tank and observing the depletion rate for the macro elements and compounds, in a measured way PPS will provide that. As far as begin a foolproof method for creating unprecedented plant growth, I don’t think that is a fair expectation. So many parameters are constantly varying outside of what PPS provides, that only good management of all these things will lead to success. PPS provides a systematic process for fertilizer addition that follows known good practice. For me it has been a foundation or starting point to build my understanding of planted aquarium needs. I think I am off to a good start.

I've used PPS on 2 different tanks, and it's worked great for me. Kudos to Edward and Discus!

03-26-2007 MrSanders

Alright, I have to be honest Edward In the past I have been one who thought there was no way a tank could be run very with such small amounts of nutrients, basically ready to bash it before I tried it long enough to find out weither it really works or not. Well after a VERY long time of having little to no success with getting anything to grow well for me, and HUGE swings in water parameters I saw a post where you talked about this PPS-Pro and no need to do water changes. Having been very wary of what my tap water was adding into my tank, the idea of not having to add it weekly was a plus for me.

Needless to say i started into it, its about 3 or 4 weeks in and my plants are showing much improvement and I am very pleased. It does seem I need just a tad more PO4 than what the mix adds but not much, and other than that I havn't had the need to adjust anything. I like it!

My question is I have two small tanks, a 1.5g and a 5g I dont use CO2 on either just excell for carbon. Is there a way to run these tanks the same way with little to no waterchanges? Obviously up take is going to be less I would imange, dose the dosing need to be cut back at all?

04-27-2007 Jookie

As far as water changes, I don't recommend EI. At least with my water parameters, the fluctuations were killing my shrimp. I would recommend PPS/PPS Pro to avoid constant fluctuations. Ever since I went PPS, I haven't lost a single shrimp. Just my own experience.

04-30-2007 Bert

OK, it's been 2 weeks since I switched my 10 over to PPS-Pro. I am happy to report all appears to be well. I have noticed no change in growth rates, no change in algae (gda is still somewhat of an issue as my glass is getting a little dirtier, but I'm going to let that go a while). I have done no water changes.

05-03-2007 Muirner

Edward, I just want to give you an update. Everything seems to be loving the dosing schedule. My Bacopa Pantanal (i think) have grown to the top of my 55 gal (24"!!!) and have many side shoots comming out the bottom. My marsilia has begun to spread noticiably. The Vals are so big that i'm debating about selling them now lol! Cabomba is recovering from looking iffy, i'm tempted to go buy another few bunches.

Stargrass is grwoing (the little that lived) Hornwort is out of control. Hemianthus micranthemoides went from 3 stems, to about 15 and sent 2 6" runners out. And the most noticable one is the Hydrocotyle leucocephala It's grown from sending about 1 leaf every 3 days, to probably 1 a day, and it's reached the top of my tank, total length of it is probably around 30-35" with stems comming from the side. The best part is the leaves on the surface are about 2-3" in diameter!

I'll have a pic if i either clean the algea or it goes away. I'm hit with GSA and Some hair algea.

05-12-2007 Left C

I didn't test my water like I promised. Anyway, the GDA went away and everything is fine in this tank. The plants are doing well. Both of the females in my threesome of Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi had babies. So...things must be going right in this tank.

05-14-2007 tazcrash69

Well, It's officially been a week. Here is the update:

1) I haven't had to clean the inside glass all week, so no GDA, GSA. I'm liking this.

2) I am seeing my fauna come out more. This has started ever since I turned down my CO2. I've seen RCS I thought died out, Also I have finally seen both my Farowellas at the same time a couple times now. I've thought 1 was dead for the last 6 months.

3) I am noticing some very slow growth, but where in the past some higher light plants dwindled, I am seeing new, but slower growth (nothing wrong with that).

So far so good.

Walter

05-22-2007 Bert

Update...

3 weeks later (5 weeks total time), and tank is doing fine. This tank always had gsa on the glass during my weekly water change routines, now it seems to be slowly abating! I must say I like the idea of not HAVING to do a weekly water change. I am doing changes now every 2-3 weeks, or if I do a major prune/uprooting, as I did yesterday. I had been concerned that my B. japonica would not do as well, since it tends to like a little higher N, in my experience. But it's done great.

I am also going to be changing over one of my 50's to the PPS-Pro. Yesterday I did a major uprooting/re-planting of a large stand of C. wendtii, figured it was a good time to do the changeover, so I wouldn't have a massive meltdown. More to come...

Bert H

05-22-2007 Muirner

Good to hear PPS is working for you. I currently run this system on my 55 and my growth rates are through the roof. So big i have more Hydrocotle again to sell. AND it has my GSA has started to clear up on it's own.

05-22-2007 dhavoc

been a month for my 120g and i also love the results, plant growth is great, and all my bba, etc is gone, except for gsa, i cant seem to get rid of it, but since i change water weekly anyway, i just scrape it off. dont know what to do with all the extra plants now....

06-01-2007 Toppy72

I too am using PPS-Pro, and I'm having great results . My BBA has completely disapeared, and my plants definately look a lot more healthy.

GSA is my only concern at the moment. I am now following Edwards advice and limiting water changes, so I will see in the next few weeks if that helps.

06-02-2007 Left C

As a side note, this PPS-Pro system works really great!

06-04-2007 sharkerbaby

lol, your right, I'm just not used to having an easily maintained planted tank. I guess I'm making things up to worry about and try to fix.

the system's working well for me, Edward.

Thank you

06-09-2007 trong

I've been using it and am very impressed with the growth of the plants. They grow so well i'm going to have to limit the # of species i keep do to the extra large sizes the plants are getting.

06-30-2007 CherylH

I've switched recently and couldn't be happier with the results. If the levels in your tanks are high, you might want to pull several large water changes to bring them down before you start the new method. I've got several tanks. The ones where the levels were low responded well immediately. The ones where the levels were high didn't improve until I went back, changed the water, and dropped the levels. Just a recent convert's opinion--not an expert, or anywhere close, by any means.

07-04-2007 LindaC

I am dosing PPS-Pro on both my tanks now, the 10 gallon and my 29 gallon. The plants are growing like wildfire and my Kribs have recently spawned, however, I keep seeing BGA now in both tanks. I try to pick it off the subtrate when I see it and I've been doing frequent water changes (in the early evening and dosing extra KNO3) and it seems to help for a few days but then it comes back again. I also have GSA and GDA, the green dust algea was there before but not as much green spot algea. I'm told that this will pass, I'm just concerned about the Cyano.

I will be moving a week from Saturday, my plan is to remove as much water as I possibly can, maybe all of it and just cover the tank with plastic to keep in the moisture. I will transport my fish in plastic bags and put them in a bucket. Hopefully once I'm established, the GDA & GSA will eventually disapear. I will keep doing water changes, adding extra KNO3 and disturbing the BGA and hopefully that too will disapear.

All and all, I am pleased with the plant growth and the easiness of PPS-Pro.

07-09-2007 longhornxtreme

I switched to PPS Pro on my 29G about 5 weeks ago. It's not very heavily planted, a big patch of valisneria, a bunch of java moss, and 2-3 various crypt species.

5 green corys

2 otos

1 angel

8 rasboras

Eheim 2217 with pressurized co2 run directly into it, inline reactor coming soon

I have a touch of BBA that is now slowly subsiding, my vals have slowed down their growth while my crypts have really shot up faster. The new growth on the crypts are a vibrant green. I love it.

However, I'm now getting GSA on my glass which I never had a problem with till this point. I don't think it's a photoperiod issue. Perhaps I have too little plant load for the 1ml/1G dose?

I really like the ease of the ferts too, I went and bought 2 nalgene 1000mL bottles and a few plastic pipettes. I can't wait to order 2 peristaltic pumps to automate this.

07-15-2007 Homer Simpson

Okay, perhaps this is a little early. I started PPS-Pro(2 weeks ago) in my 40 gallon tank that I was in the process of gradually converting to a fully planted tank. The substrate is Schultz Aquatic soil mixed with the previous gravel that I had in the tank(I did not fully removed the old gravel as I did not want to screw up the bacterial colonies and restart a mini-cycle). This is topped off with a thin layer of fluorite. The lightling is 90 Watts and pretty cra*py. C02 is provided by 2 DIY bottles hooked to a ceramic glass diffuser and from the looks of it I have yet to see the diffuser release any bubbles eventhough there are no leaks and I can see the yeast/sugar/water mixture fermenting. The plants in the tank are aponogetons, Java fern, Java moss, hygrophilia compact, ambulia, cryptocornes(Cryptocoryne Wendtii and Cryptocoryne willisii). I had this set up in place for almost 2-3 months prior to PPS-Pro dosing and was only dosing with Seachem Comprehensive. With the exception of the aponogetons which were growing like crazy(I don't know what types as I sprouted these Wal-Mart bulbs in my 10 gallon and transferred the plants into the 40 gallon), the plants were not dieing but they were not growing either. 2 weeks after dosing with PPS-Pro, the Cryptocorne willisii gave off a daughter plant so it formed a runner, the hygrophilia compact took off and formed huge leaves and many side stems and roots, the java fern started forming plantlets on leaf tips. I was just about to remove the ambulia because it was doing so poorly. Much to my surprise new stems began forming and it started showing new growth. About the only thing that I noticed that was negative was the growth of brush algae, but I believe that this may have more to do with the DIY CO2 injection than PPS-Pro. Also the brush algae is not a huge problem because the otos and SAE seem to enjoy feasting on it. Diatom algae also formed but was quickly wiped out by the otos and it has since not returned.

I believe that the improved plant growth is more than coincidence and PPS-Pro had a lot do with this. I also believe that once I upgrade the lighting, convert to pressurized c02 injection, and increase plant mass, things will even look better. I know that one can always argue that the plants that I have are low maintenance, low light, and hardy plants to begin with and should do well even in less that ideal set-ups. This is true, but keep in mind that in my case, there was no growth for 2-3 months and signs of new growth only surfaced about 2 weeks after starting PPS-Pro.

Another vote of confidence for PPS-Pro.

Thanks Edward.

11-26-2007 evergreen

Hi,

Now all the plants do extremely WELL!!! All of them grow not too fast but look very nice! There is an ideal shape of leaves and bright color. Algae passed as a watch in the night! I’ve forgot about glass scraper. Now I can think just about how to make good aquascape. I believe PPS-Pro isn’t just fertilizer. It’s good approach to keep error free planted tank. I like it. Edward thanks to you for your assistance and guideline.

Yours faithfully,

Evergreen

09-03-2008 Nevermore

I’ve become a big believer in PPS-Pro! Three and a half weeks ago I converted my 55 gallon and my 20 gallon over to PPS-Pro from dosing with Seachem. I had a bad case of staghorn algae in the 55 gallon which I had been fighting for a long time, to no avail. My CO2 was up at 2.5 bps because I was battling the staghorn, plus when I went much lower than that, I began to see BBA.

My CO2 for both tanks is now at 1 bps; I didn’t think that level was possible for my 55 gallon tank because of the algae issues. Needless to say, the staghorn is now gone in my larger tank. I see very little to no algae in either tank. The plants look great too. I’m sure my fish are happier. This opens up whole new possibilities. I can finally concentrate on aquascaping rather than fighting algae. I only wish I had discovered this earlier.

A big THANK YOU to Edward!!!

10-26-08 ray-the-pilot

I’m sure every plant is different but I’m growing Alternanthera reinecki, which is a vibrant red in my tank. (Check out my profile and pictures). Maybe this is a weed, I don’t know, but it grows really well using the PPS fertilization program and about 5 watts/ gal of light in my 52 gal tank. I keep CO2 on the low side about 20 ppm (blue green on the drop checker).

If you want any I have tons to spare that is really red.

11-09-08 jcali10

I agree with Hooha, and I also use PPS-Pro with all my tanks, as I have inert substrates

such as Soil Master Select and Schults Aqua Soil in my tanks. I find PPS-Pro to be the

easiest regime for me to follow.

11-10-08 orlando

^^^^ This is, in my opinion the best dosing regimen there is.

I like the fact that it saves folks precious water. Keeps from having to do 50% water changes weekly.

Thanks Edward,

Cheers, O

11-10-08 orlando

We have linked it on our web site and try to get folks to try it. We do stress to people the importance of doing there part to save water.

You can have a beautiful tank with minimal impact on the environment, and less labor on your part.

I prefer this to anything else.

I agree...PPS-Pro is great.. 2 solutions, easy to remember (daily), no water changes, much more simple IMO
