Stand-Up Treat All Respectfully

Welcome to the STAR Program Page!

STAR Program Overview

Pfeiffer Intermediate School is committed to the social-emotional growth of our students as well as their academic growth. For the past 6 years, we have been working with the Stark Speaks-Up for Kindness Initiative to create a safe and kind school culture. The STAR (Stand-Up Treat All Respectfully) Program at Pfeiffer is focused on facilitating the social-emotional growth of our students. Through this program, students learn about having good character and treating others with respect. Each month, we have a building theme that combines character education and social-emotional learning to serve as our focus for student growth during teacher-led class meetings . During class meetings, teachers implement building-wide common lessons that include class discussions, group activities, and community connection projects that reinforce the theme.

Circle It Up

We "Circle It Up" for our Class Meetings to increase student connectedness to teachers and their peers. Every Wednesday morning, every student at Pfeiffer is involved in “Circle It Up.” Each homeroom sits in a circle together to discuss important topics. These topics are not necessarily related to school but are important to the social-emotional growth and wellness of the students. This is meant to be a safe space for students to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns with peers who listen respectfully and provide support.
