Design 11

Course Description

Course Outline for Semester

Teacher: Mr. Evans

Design 11 is a technology course which uses many visual art and technical skills. It will cover both theory (the ideas behind what is being made) and practice (making prototype models). Students will conduct inquiries into design issues using a variety of traditional materials and tools, as well as the use of computer design software. Students will work independently and collaborate for ideas and critique.

Modules for this course include the following:

Design Portfolios

Students in Design 11 are expected to keep a portfolio of their work throughout the semester. This portfolio has taken a number of forms, in previous years mostly computer files but can include sketchbooks, folders, and binders. The type of portfolio you keep is up to you. Make sure your portfolio is up to date. Not only is a portfolio useful for this course but also for college entry and the workforce.

Design Teams

For certain projects you may work in groups to collaborate for design ideas, inspiration and critique of designs. Everyone is expected to do their part and treat each other with respect.

Acceptable Use

I will not accept any work with content which is sexist, racist, homophobic, or treats any group of people with hate. There is to be no references to careless and inappropriate use of drugs, violence or illegal activity in your work. If you are unsure whether or not a work will be deemed acceptable please ask me.
