John James

John James is a 1970 graduate of BFHS, where he was a standout athlete. John played baseball for 4 years while being a co-captain his senior year, 4 years of basketball, 2 years of cross country, 1 year of track. John played football for 2 years while being a co-captain and also selected to the Vermont Shrine team his senior year. During Johns first year of football he was selected as an honorable mention on the Div 1 All State team. During his senior year he was selected as the Lawrence Hadley, Rotary and Windham awards. John was recruited to play football at UVM, but instead went to Husson College and played baseball while his nickname at Husson was “Johnny Hustle”. After college he came back to Bellows Falls and married his wife Linda and has 3 kids and 7 grandchildren. John has worked in the Bellows Falls area ever since he came back to Bellows Falls from college: 2 yrs at Angel Automotive, 13 yrs at Whitcombs, 3 yrs at WL James Trucking, 3 yrs St. J Trucking and currently for the past 29 years at LB Trucking/Patriot Freightliner.

While being busy working and raising a family he also has given back to the community he grew up in. John helped coach CYO basketball for 6 years, John also has umpired for the Bellows Fall Junior League for several years. He was very instrumental in reorganizing and coaching for 10 plus years for the Bellows Falls Babe Ruth Summer Baseball program for local 13-15 year olds. For 27 year plus he has coached in the Connecticut Valley Pee Wee Football league, many years on the sideline for the Dolphins and now still on the sidelines for the Jets. John has been a Knights of Columbus member for over 15 years, while doing this he also ran the KofC Hoop Shoot every year. John has also been selected as the Elks Citizen of the year for all that he has done for this community.

John has been a staple in our Terrier Family for his whole life. Whether it be playing for the Purple and White or giving his time and efforts in molding our future students. John has and will give his all to the Terrier Family.
